Their early work blended jangly guitar melodies with power- pop sensibilities. Known for a succession of hit singles during the 1980s including 'Walk Like an Egyptian', 'Manic Monday', 'Hazy Shade of Winter' and the ballad 'Eternal Flame' which became a huge hit, topping the charts in several countries and is one of their signature songs. The original lineup included Hoffs (Guitar and Vocals), Vicki Peterson (Guitar and Vocals), Debbi Peterson (Drums and Vocals), and Annette Zilinskas (Bass). The success of 'Different Light' established the Bangles as one of the top female-fronted acts of the 1980s. Their final album was 'Everything' (1988).
