About This Item

Four CD set. Three Studio albums from The Bangles who hit big in 'Manic Monday' in 1985. Celebrating the legacy of The Bangles, the box set contains the studio albums alongside the bands' earliest recordings and a selection of B-Sides, mixes and live recordings. With a booklet featuring a history of the band written by John Earls from Classic Pop. Formed in LA by Susanna Hoffs and sisters Vicki Peterson and Debbi Peterson, The Bangles began as part of the Paisley Underground scene, a movement heavily influenced by 1960s rock and psychedelic music. Their early work blended jangly guitar melodies with power- pop sensibilities. Known for a succession of hit singles during the 1980s including 'Walk Like an Egyptian', 'Manic Monday', 'Hazy Shade of Winter' and the ballad 'Eternal Flame' which became a huge hit, topping the charts in several countries and is one of their signature songs. The original lineup included Hoffs (Guitar and Vocals), Vicki Peterson (Guitar and Vocals), Debbi Peterson (Drums and Vocals), and Annette Zilinskas (Bass). After Zilinskas left in 1983, Michael Steele, formerly of the Runaways, joined as bassist and vocalist, cementing the classic lineup. Their 1984 debut album, 'All Over the Place', received critical acclaim which set the stage for their commercial breakthrough with the 1986 album 'Different Light'. The success of 'Different Light' established the Bangles as one of the top female-fronted acts of the 1980s. Their final album was 'Everything' (1988). Following the enormous success of 'Eternal Flame', the band struggled with internal tensions and disbanded in 1989. Album Tracks 1. Hero Takes a Fall 2. Live 3. James 4. All About You 5.
