About this product

In 1997 Barbara joined forces with Chris Bond who had directed her in the original Liverpool production of Willy Russell's musical, 'Blood Brothers,' to create a new stage production, 'The 7 Ages of Woman'. Described as InchA Journey from the Cradle to the GraveInch from a female perspective, the show was essentially a one woman show for Barbara featuring a collection of songs covering seven themes from adolescence through to old age - Childhood, First Love, Work, Marriage, 'Love For Sale', Motherhood and 'I'm Still Here'. The show went on to tour the UK twice and earned Barbara the 'Best Actress' award at the 1997 Liverpool Echo Awards. The soundtrack CD of the production had a very limited and as such went on to become a much sough-after collector's item. Now, almost twenty years later, the album is re-released for the first time, digitally remastered and featuring extensive liner notes on the original theatre production.

Barbara Dickson - Through Line - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2018 . The project features some of Barbara's favorite songs, from her early days as a singer on the Scottish folk circuit through to mainstream chart success in the '70s and '80s, re-recorded with the acclaimed Carducci String Quartet. Each of the nine tracks has been specially chosen by Barbara for the album with completely new arrangements by John O'Hara who also produces.

Barbara Dickson - Full Circle - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

In 2004 Barbara released 'Full Circle,' her first full studio album for nine years. Produced by Troy Donockley, the album marked a return to her folk roots with an eclectic selection of songs including traditional and classical material and more contemporary songs such as The Everly Brothers Living Too Close to the Ground' and 'Faithless Love', the JD Souther song made famous by Linda Ronstadt. InchI'm very proud of this album,Inch Barbara says. InchIt's a big mixture of different sorts of songs. There's a lot of folk music on it and there are two classical songs and two songs from the 20th century, so it's a great big mixture of stuff. It's produced by Troy Donockley who does classical music of his own which he composes, but with Celtic instruments, with a Celtic flavour, so it's really fantastically interesting for me. Really quite a departure.Inch InchIt is no exaggeration to describe Dickson as a great singer. She stood out a mile among the Scottish folk singers of her generation, and she has consistently shown her class when performing for a wider public. From the first notes of Garton Mother's Lullaby to the last strains of Eriskay Love Song, 'Full Circle' maintains those fine standards. Dickson takes each ballad in her stride, ably produced by Troy Donockley, who also contributes moody uillean pipes. Without dismissing the work she has done in the other three decades of her career, this is Dickson at her most engaging.Inch (The Daily Telegraph)
