About this product
This collection from the legacy of Jirí Belohlávek was put together during the year after the demise of this outstanding conductor. It is intended mainly as a recollection of this extraordinary musician and person. His life can be briefly described by enumerating the greatest of his achievements (Chief Conductor of the Czech Philharmonic, BBC Symphony Orchestra, guest conductor with the Berliner Philharmoniker, New York Philharmonic, Royal Concertgebouw, appearances at the MET, Glyndebourne, etc.; holder of the Commander of the Order of the British Empire /CBE/ title). The Maestro himself may have preferred a sharing of memories to recordings; yet the set of twenty-three pieces taken from the almost three hundred pieces from Supraphon archives and recorded in the years 1971 - 2016 is a wonderful illustration of Belohlávek's professional maturing. They capture him as a conductor of several leading Czech orchestras, beginning with the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra and concluding by the Czech Philharmonic and Prague Philharmonia. In the very centre of Belohlávek's repertoire we find compositions by Dvorák (From the New World), Smetana (My Country), Suk, Janácek and, notably, Martinu, whom he introduced to the world. The collection is enriched by several side-steps into other areas of repertoire including Mozart, Ravel, Mahler and Bartók, which documents the amazing scope of the conductor's focus.

In Stuttgart, 1983 - 1989, Neville Marriner followed Sergiu Celibidache, offering quite the contrast to that willfully prodigious Romanian broodingly charismatic style with his own easygoing, less spectacular but genial manner of music making. His sound wasn't as dense and carefully crafted, but the ensemble's playing became lighter and more flexible, agile rather than probing. It is in his Stuttgart period that Marriner increasingly focused on repertoire that went beyond the baroque and classical periods. This compilation offers repertoire which music lovers will be less likely to associate with Marriner German romanticism, including all of Schumann's Symphonies, Richard Strauss, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff, Mahler, Bartok and Gershwin - The fundamental impression that comes from re-listening to these performances, apart from good and fresh music-making, is one of sympathetic music-making. That feels about right as an epitaph for the man and his body of work.

Kurt Vile - InchBack To Moon BeachInch - Back To Moon Beach is an EP by no one's definition but Kurt Vile's. For Kurt, this collection is an expression of just how deep his well of non-album material runs. This includes six tracks culled from various sessions over the last four years, and represents a wide swath of the inspirational musical community Kurt surrounds himself with. (Verve Records)

The Capella St. Crucis Hannover, led by Florian Lohmann, present these German Advent and Christmas tunes. In the Capella St. Crucis Hanover, around 60 music students and experienced choir members sing. Every year both large oratorios and demanding a cappella works from the Renaissance to the modern age, including world premieres in Hanover and in northern Germany, are performed. Awards (ECHO Klassik 2010), first placements in the Lower Saxony Choir Competition (2005, 2009, 2017) as well as a third place in the 10th German Choir Competition 2018 prove the high level of the choir. In scenic productions or in cooperation with the NDR Radiophilharmonie, the choir is looking for new artistic challenges and unusual concert formats. Guest performances have taken the Capella St. Crucis to Europe, Argentina and most recently to Australia.
