Tangerine Dream - 50 Years Of Phaedra - At The Barbican - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Two CD set includes 12-page booklet. In 1974, 'Phaedra' redefined the landscape of electronic music. What began as an experimental session at Richard Branson's Manor Studios in Oxfordshire became a seismic event in modern sound. Using the Moog sequencer for the first time, Tangerine Dream - then comprised of Edgar Froese, Christopher Franke & Peter Baumann - crafted 'Phaedra', an album that shimmered with innovation, mystery & a palpable sense of discovery. Half a century later, Tangerine Dream returned to London's Barbican to honor that landmark work - reimagining it for a new era. '50 Years Of Phaedra At The Barbican' captures this transcendent live performance, in which the current line-up - Thorsten Quaeschning, Hoshiko Yamane & Paul Frick - revisit the spirit of 'Phaedra' with the very tools that Froese & his collaborators helped pioneer.

Beethoven / Jansons / Bavarian Radio Symphony Orch - Symphony No. 4 Pastorale - Kancheli: Dixi - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks has already performed Beethoven symphony cycles on several occasions. Mariss Jansons has now extended the cycle concept in two respects with works specially commissioned from contemporary composers, who have contributed their own musical reflections on Beethoven symphonies, and by presenting these outstanding concert events on the record market as a series of live recordings. Following the excellent response from critics and audiences for the award-winning Complete Edition (BR-KLASSIK, 900119), BR-KLASSIK now also presents Beethoven's symphonies on individual CDs. In addition to the live recording of the InchPastoraleInch by Ludwig van Beethoven from Munich's Herkulessaal in 2012, the production includes a contribution from the Georgian composer Giya Kancheli (born 1935), whose work InchDixiInch (InchI have spokenInch) for choir and orchestra is oriented towards Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and was first performed in 2009.
