Bayne Gibby - Bayne Gibby - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Graham Sharp has made a name for himself as the chief songwriter and a founding member of the GRAMMY-winning Americana group Steep Canyon Rangers. As the world entered lockdown in 2020, Sharp began to draw inspiration from a wellspring of emotions. On his first solo album, Truer Picture, the songwriter tackles difficult feelings of isolation (InchCome Visit My IslandInch) and addresses the ever-topical political unrest we continue to see in the country (InchMy NeighborhoodInch). Sharp's unique style of songwriting is apparent on Prime-esque songs like InchNorth Star' and InchComing Back to Life,Inch and the rich instrumentation on tracks like InchDeeper FamilyInch (featuring harmony vocals from The War on Drugs' David Hartley) illustrates the stark sonic differences between Sharp's solo work and his music with Steep Canyon Rangers. What we're given is a raw portrait of one of the finest songwriters of our time, a truer picture of Graham Sharp.1. Truer Picture of Me2. Generation Blues3. Love Yourself4. North Star5. Bad Apple6. (2-CD set) Recorded live during a four week acoustic tour, this album is Lindisfarne's first recording since the sudden death of co-founder and principal songwriter Alan Hull in 1995. The fifteen tracks show that the band's sound was as influenced as much by the R'n'B of the States as it was their own North East roots. Slide guitar, blues harmonica and vocals mix with whistle, accordion and banjo in versions of many of the band's classic numbers. Untapped & Acoustic not only shows that Lindisfarne are still as striking as ever in live performance, but also serves as a fitting testament to Alan's unique songwriting talent.
