Beethoven / Klemperer,Otto - Missa Solemnis - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Cellist Juliette Herlin's debut album 'Dialogue Debussy & Schumann' presents a powerful exploration of two composers whose artistic kinship has often been overlooked. Herlin, alongside pianist Kevin Ahfat, brings works by Robert Schumann and Claude Debussy together in a fresh light, featuring both original compositions and transcriptions for cello and piano. The album delves into the introspective, lyrical, and fantastical elements that define the musical worlds of both composers, from Schumann's expressive Fantasiestucke and Adagio and Allegro to Debussy's evocative Cello Sonata. The recording illuminates the shared sensibilities of these two masters, whose works have shaped Herlin's own musical identity. The project is not only a personal reflection for Herlin, but also an invitation for listeners to explore the subtle connections between Schumann and Debussy, whose works, though separated by time and geography, share a profound musical intimacy. Drawing on both composers' affinity for the art song and the expressive possibilities of the cello, 'Dialogue' offers a unique perspective on these enduring masterpieces.
