Ben E. King - Best Of - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Two of the greatest surf groups of all time performing their biggest early hits.

2017 collection. An introduction to Ben E. King. A 10-track compilation of Ben E. King. One of the coolest customers in the history of R&B left us in 2015. Here's his immortal InchStand by Me, Inch his hits InchSpanish Harlem, Inch InchAmor, Inch InchHere Comes the Night, Inch InchYoung Boy Blues, Inch InchI Could Have Danced All Night, Inch his take on InchMoon RiverInch and more sublime singing by Ben E. King! Born Benjamin Earl Nelson in Henderson, North Carolina on September 28, 1938, the future Mr. King moved up the east coast to Harlem when he was only nine years old, but the change in locale ultimately proved fortuitous for the singer in 1958, he became a member of a doo-wop group known as the Five Crowns, who found themselves selected by manager George Treadwell to replace the members of The Drifters that he'd fired. As the new lead singer of The Drifters, King's voice was soon emerging from radios all around America, singing such instant classics as InchSave the Last Dance for Me, Inch InchThis Magic Moment, Inch and InchThere Goes My Baby, Inch which King co-wrote with Lover Patterson, George Treadwell, Jerry Lieber, and Mike Stoller. Unfortunately, a contract dispute led King to depart the group's ranks, but it all worked out in the end, as that's when he adopted his stage name, embarked on a solo career, and started to create musical magic with InchSpanish HarlemInch and InchStand by Me.Inch

This collection features some of Ben E. King's leads with the Drifters and a handful of solo efforts. Three solo monsters are included the stalking InchStand by Me,Inch fan favorite InchDon't Play That Song,Inch and the everlasting InchSpanish Harlem.Inch His stint with the Drifters is best represented by the popular InchSave the Last Dance for MeInch and the lilting InchThis Magic Moment.Inch King's '70s smash InchSupernatural Thing Pt. 1Inch is disappointing in this context because InchPt. 2Inch is omitted. Perfect for casual fans of Ben E. King and the Drifters who only need an appetizer. [Note This product is an authorized CD-R and is manufactured on demand].
