It's the year 500 A.D. in deepest, darkest Denmark. A jealous, decapitating monster - the unstoppable Grendel - terrorizes the drunken revelers of mead-soaked Heorot. Fearless Princess Freawaru and her sidekick, the cynical scribe Shaper, journey in search of a hero who can save their people. But it turns out true heroes are rarer than bloodthirsty monsters. And when famed imp-slayer Beowulf rides to Heorot's rescue, her true agenda could prove more dangerous than Grendel himself.
After a string of killings and disappearances, Horrace, Jane, and half-werewolf Archie are asked by villagers to investigate strange events at a nearby Gothic castle. Joined by brave volunteers, they uncover a horde of otherworldly creatures, sparking a fierce battle for survival.
Director Mike Nichols' thrilling modern-day werewolf movie boasts a stellar cast, including Jack Nicholson, Michelle Pfeiffer and James Spader, and presents itself as a witty and inventive hybrid of horror film, romantic thriller and biting satire about male anxiety and office politics, where the real monster is corporate greed.
