About this product
A timely collision of 21st century Punk Rock and 1980s new wave, complete with vintage synthesizer licks, Big City Rock's self titled debut is a catchy collection of songs that recall early U2, without the messianic overtones. BCR's only objective is to conquer the dance floor. The commercial sounding 'All of the Above' is classic stadium Rock with a contemporary twist, and 'I Believe in You' is big box romance, with chiming guitars and a crowd pleasing chorus. The ready for video 'Human' is a frantic commentary on modern life that conjures the band's Los Angeles home base, while, harking back to U2, the anthemic 'Touch the Horizon' closes the album on a crescendo of hope. Wea/Atlantic. 2006.

As an accomplished 12-string guitarist/composer, Alexander Turnquist's latest full-length Flying Fantasy confirms the idea that out of great hardship can come great art. As he wrote the material for the new album it became clear that his sensitivity had sharpened, his empathy magnified, and his sense of purpose blossomed. The unfortunate circumstances he endured ostensibly forced his metamorphosis from a remarkable guitar player to a truly great composer. Much like the butterflies that adorn the album cover, he seems to have changed form and taken flight.

RADIO CITY is the 1974 follow up to Big Star's debut, #1 RECORD. The critically acclaimed, Memphis-based band is often credited with creating the power pop sound, and has become a cult favorite over the years. Remastered from the analog stereo masters. Packaging includes new liner notes penned by R.E.M.'s Mike Mills, who cites Big Star as one of his biggest influences. One half of Big Star's songwriting duo, Chris Bell, made the decision to leave the band following the 1972 of #1 RECORD, which left Alex Chilton at the helm as primary songwriter on album number two. Chilton was able to use this opportunity to shine and prove himself to be an incredible songwriter on his own. In his liner notes, Mike Mills writes, 'On RADIO CITY, Chilton confirms his place as one of the best songwriters in rock and roll. While 'September Gurls' may be the best-known song from this album, every other song here is one that I wish I'd written.'
