The Bevis Frond - Inner Marshland - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Following the unexpected success of The Bevis Frond's debut, 1987's InchInner MarshlandInch originally was recorded via the home studio four-track portastudio set up that was used for the debut album in Walthamstow, UK. Recorded over 12 months, InchInner MarshlandInch features the anglophile's dreamscape of InchTermination Station GreyInch, the epic psych-blues-rock rave up of InchI've Got Eyes in the Back of My HeadInch and so much more, with Nick Saloman's guitar always leading the way. A labour of love and fiercely independent, his prolific output has seen as many releases in as many years, an uncompromising vision all under his own tag Woronzow. Hailed as Incha Hendrix devotee ever bit as tough and contemporary as the serrated guitar chorales of Sonic Youth and PixiesInch by Rolling Stone's David Fricke, his immense psych-stoner-rock has seen him become a cult figure in his own right. The Bevis Frond's legion of loyal fans includes Teenage Fanclub, Dinosaur Jr and Mary Lou Lord, who have all covered his music.

Bill Doggett - Dancing With Bill Doggett, His Organ & Combo 1955-1960 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Here's an overview of the career of organist Bill Doggett that's a bit different. Most reissues in the CD era have almost entirely focused on his time with King Records. He was with the tag in three periods, the 50s and early 60s, and then again in the 70s when he was recording funkier material. It is the period from the early 60s after his first tenure with King records that has been ignored until now. Jasmine has collected together a selection of King singles to start off this set and then this superb CD concludes with his famous LP recorded for Warner Brothers Records in 1961 the snappily titled, Inch3046 People Danced 'Til 4 A. M. To Bill Doggett and his ComboInch. Despite being predominately jazz musicians due to the success of the instrumental InchHonky Tonk Part 1 & 2Inch which has become an r&b standard, Bill Doggett and his group found themselves very much in demand in rock and roll venues and shows
