Bj rn Malmqvist - Baltic Bass - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Following on from their universally acclaimed debut album, Music for a Prussian Salon, the period wind ensemble Boxwood & Brass returns to Resonus with the first of two volumes of Beethoven Transformed. In this major new project, the group explores the status of wind music in early-nineteenth century Vienna through original and arranged music by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) and his contemporaries. In this first album, Beethoven's Op. 71 Sextet is paired with the Op. 20 Septet in E-flat major, arranged for six-part Harmonie by his prolific pupil, Carl Czerny (1791-1857). Founded in 2013, Boxwood & Brass brings together the emerging generation of British period wind-instrument players to advocate for neglected wind chamber music and harmoniemusik of the Classical and early-Romantic periods. Members of the group work regularly with top orchestras from across Europe, including the Orchestra Revolutionnaire et Romantique, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Gabrieli, L'Orchestra de Champs-Elysees and Spira Mirabilis. In-depth scholarly research into style and repertoire is important to the ensemble, as is promoting the highest standards in period wind playing.

Founded in 1977 in Pesaro, Italy, by figurehead Steve Sylvester together with Paul Chain, Death SS went on to pioneer an entire genre by combining a serious interest in all things occult with the theatrical grandeur of shock rockers like Arthur Brown or Alice Cooper in a distinctly extreme musical context, thus even predating the achievements of King Diamond and Mercyful Fate. Incomprehensibly, the band never got full recognition apart from the metal underground, and it may well be for this reason that Steve was forced to it's latest album InchRock 'n' Roll ArmageddonInch via his own tag Lucifer Rising in 2018. Due to it's undeservedly low exposure beyond the group's devoted fans, High Roller have decided to introduce the record to international audiences. Although half a decade has passed since predecessor InchResurrectionInch came out, Inchthe production process for our new full-length was shorter and more direct,Inch says Sylvester. InchAll tracks were recorded over a couple of months, which gave more compactness and cohesion to the whole work, making it sound much more live. I create with absolute freedom and no pressure at all.Inch InchRock 'n' Roll ArmageddonInch is a tight package in both stylistic and aesthetic terms. InchThe general mood reflects the tense and difficult political climate of our times. Today more than ever, man seems to have lost his common sense and steer towards self-destruction.Inch Consequently, the material follows a clear atmospheric line, building on the industrial glam aura with which the five-piece has surrounded itself on previous efforts. By blending a modern sound with traditional songwriting, even harking back to his doomy roots with tracks like 'Zombie Massacre', Sylvester catapults Death SS into the future... because Inchthere are still things that we haven't done yet and would like to achieve. Let's see what destiny holds for
