After having released a trilogy of records in a trio , the Gjermund Larsen Trio have expanded their palette with their fourth album, Salmeklang. Gjermund has forged a new path as a composer, and the Swedish folk music group Nordic, who are featured as guest artists, contribute their own distinctive sound to the music. The album also marks the tenth anniversary of the Trio. Gjermund Larsen still writes most of his music for the trio, and his sense of melody and sensitivity to atmosphere is outstanding. The music is lovely and intimate. It is experienced as personal and as being directed unobtrusively but clearly towards the listener. InchIf I want to have something to offer when I perform, then the music has to have meaning for me,Inch Gjermund explains. InchSince my previous I have, among other things, become the father of twins. They provided the inspiration for two of the tunes. Another was written for my father's 70th birthday. So in that sense this is very personal music.Inch

The trio started oh my two years ago at Gravesend Recordings in Brooklyn and then, after Nadia's relocation to Austin, they ventured out for a week to Dripping Springs, Austin and took over the home and studio of Dan Duszynski and Emily Cross (Cross Record) while they toured the US. Says Hulett of recording in Austin InchDripping Springs has been it's own magic place for me since I first visited my friends there in 2015. In letting us take over their house, we got the opportunity to explore, free of our distractions and the weight of city life. The first time I stepped foot on the property, I knew it would play an important role in my life. After finishing up the album I ended up moving into that house in 2017.Inch - oh my then, is an uncovering. A space that opens, suddenly, and a process that catches you. Kids biking down a suburban street in late afternoon. An ultra pink vest that infuses the wearer with a great and necessary confidence. A state of mind.
