About this product
An ethno-pop/psyche rarity, the Black Diamond Trio's 1979 self-titled album centers around an Israeli trio composed of Avner Zadok (guitar, vocals), Miri Mor (vocals), and Richard Peritz (guitar, vocals) backed by bass, drums, flute, and aided by the string section of Israel's Philharmonic orchestra. The flavor here is mellow psychedelia with the group singing in both Hebrew and English, with excellent musicianship from all involved. Black Diamond was the nickname of a young major in an Israeli intelligence unit who introduced Peritz to the well know Israeli songwriter Zadok, which led to this trio being formed. Original copies of this unusual LP sell for hundreds of dollars, making it exceedingly rare. At long last, this unique album has been newly remastered and finally made available again. Album Tracks 1. Evening of Memories 2. Golden Violin 3. Hear My Prayer 4. The Black Diamond 5. Lonely Seashore 6. Queen Shabbat 7. Small Land 8. Homeland 9. Wilderness 10. Not Too Late 11. Saying Goodbye 12. Leha Dodi

For their 2015 sophomore album, 1939 Ensemble added a third member, multi-instrumentalist Josh Thomas, whose musicality adds a rich Ostinato to Medeles and Coniglio's dialogue. The band put together a dream team to help build the record, including John McEntire, Tucker Martine, Mark Orton, Holland Andrews, M. Ward and Michael Flinn. Black Diamond Pearl is a journey, cinematic in nature and ranging the full spectrum of emotion - a puckish romp in vivid colors, a bright trumpet peppering the ebullient rhythms, percussion-heavy songs acting as exercises in tom work, penetrating brass, ethereal vocals (provided by Like A Villian's Holland Andrews), and industrial noise.
