Blood on the Sun - BLU-RAY

Nick Condon, an American newspaper reporter in Tokyo, exposes the anti-democratic policies of the Imperialist government and finds that his two best friends have been brutally murdered. Nick devotes his time to finding InchThe Tanka PlanInch; a blueprint for the Japanese takeover of the free world. He quickly finds that he cannot trust anyone!

Nick Condon. (James Cagney) is a journalist for the Tokyo Chronicle. He prints a story disclosing Japan's plan to conquer the world. Condon obtains the Tanaka Plan, a paper in which all the plans are described. The Japanese spies who follow him think that Ollie and Edith Miller (Wallace Ford and Rosemary DeCamp) are the ones who discovered the plan because they are suddenly returning to the USA. When Condon goes to the ship to bid them farewell, he finds Edith dead. He sees a huge ruby ring on her hand. He locates Ollie and gets the Tanaka plan from him. Condon is being followed everywhere now, so he hides the Tanaka plan behind the Emperor Picture. Condon meets Iris Hilliard (Sylvia Sidney), he falls in love with her, but believes she may be betraying him, especially when Condon sees the ring with the ruby in her hand. You'll just have to watch this movie to see how this suspenseful story ends. Cagney is superb! Blood on the Sun won an Academy Award for best direction in 1945. James Cagney fights his way through Tokyo in Blood on the Sun! As newsman Nick Condon, Cagney battles Japanese spies in a story of double-dealing and intrigue during the second World War. The film also stars Sylvia Sidney and was directed by two-time Academy Award winner Frank Lloyd (perhaps best known for his 1935 version of Mutiny on the Bounty). Produced by Cagney's own production company, Blood on the Sun features a musical score by the great Miklos Rozsa (Spellbound, The Lost Weekend) and won an Academy Award for Art Direction.
