Bill Evans - Further Conversations With Myself - Gatefold Vinyl - VINYL LP

Further Conversations with Myself, released on the Verve tag in 1967, was Bill Evans' sequel to his 1963 Grammy Award LP Conversations with Myself. As on that initial album, here all the pieces are unaccompanied solos with piano overdubs. On Further, however, he plays just two pianos instead of the three he had previously employed. According to AllMusic reviewer Scott Yanow, InchThe program is brief, but Evans plays quite well throughout. In particular, his versions of Johnny Mandel's 'Emily' and 'Santa Claus Is Coming to Town' are most memorable. A thoughtful and (despite the overdubbing) spontaneous-sounding set of melodic music.Inch

Larry Young - Into Somethin' - VINYL LP

Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. On 1964's Into Somethin', Larry Young made it abundantly clear that he had his own unique approach to the Hammond B-3 organ. Young explored a more modal territory over the course of his six Blue Note albums including this tremendous session featuring tenor saxophonist Sam Rivers, guitarist Grant Green, and drummer Elvin Jones. This Blue Note 80 Vinyl Edition is all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes.

Ervin Booker - Tex Book Tenor (Blue Note Tone Poet Series) - VINYL LP

Vinyl LP pressing. Following sideman appearances with pianist Horace Parlan in the early 1960s, Booker Ervin cut two stellar Blue Note records as a leader in 1968 including Tex Book Tenor which had to wait nearly 40 years until 2005 for it's first standalone . With a sleek post-bop quintet featuring trumpeter Woody Shaw, pianist Kenny Barron, bassist Jan Arnet, and drummer Billy Higgins, the Texas-born saxophonist slices through a set of compelling bandmember originals including Barron's sinuous tune InchGichiInch and Shaw's lilting waltz InchIn a Capricornian Way,Inch as well as Ervin's lovely ballad InchLynn's TuneInch and the hard-swinging InchDen Tex,Inch named for his hometown of Denison. Album Tracks 1. Gichi 2. Den Tex 3. In a Capricornian Way 4. Lynn's Tune 5. 204
