After having this for over a month waiting on the countertops to be installed, we finally got this hooked and operational. It’s very nice. It is unobtrusive when down and works well when up. The reason I docked one star is that, even though we have the blower motor mounted in the crawl space (remote mount) and the unit is nearly silent on low speed, it whistles when on Medium or High due to the design of the inlets chocking the flow and making it do the 90 degree turn into the downdraft. It’s still way more silent that the previous one I had that was integrated into the cooktop and it worked very well when frying some turkey meatballs in a little olive oil. It required a little extra wiring on my part as the blower is powered by 120V AC power (3 prong plug) and most cabinets aren’t wired for that. It would be nice if there was an option to plug it into the matching Bosch cooktop, but it’s pure 240V AC (no neutral wire) so clearly that’s not an option. One other note, and a ding on Best Buy. I purchased a new item, but what was delivered was clearly an open box as it the box was barely held together with Geek Squade security tape. My wife inspected the item before letting the delivery driver leave and it wasn’t damaged and BB was the only place with this item in stock, so we just kept it for fear that we wouldn’t be able to get one until June. But it definitely wasn’t what I expected from BB.

So the good news is you can vent this basically any direction you want. The bad news is to make it happen you need to buy a special part and all of them are backordered at least 6 weeks. Once it sets up it is super cool that it just comes up and down and it looks fantastic and sleek. Super bougie. But it doesn't do the greatest job actually sucking the air out. Also please note you need to purchase a blower as well!
