These were purchased for me as a gift as a replacement for my last SoundTrue set that frayed after daily use for years so I'm going to compare in hopes of helping others that are deciding on which product to buy. I've been using the Bose in-ear products for 5 years - SoundTrue for 4+ years and FreeStyle as of Nov 2014. I use/used both products with my iPod (2nd and 4th gen) and Samsung Galaxy S4. They work equally well on both devices. The sound quality is really awesome for such a small product, but this is what Bose is known for (and what we pay more for); very well balanced. I use these EVERY day and I love how comfortable they are. My ear canal is smaller than most so ALL other earbuds I have ever tried have given me earaches if they stay in or would easily fall out. These fit very comfortably in my ear using the small StayHear tip (included). I love them so much that I've also purchased these as a gift for my teenage son (who also loves them). I use these every night with sleep apps. I am a side sleeper and this is where I noticed the most significant difference. The SoundTrue set has a flatter profile so I would never feel these in my ears when I laid on my pillow. The FreeStyle has a rounder profile that you cannot really see when comparing the pictures. (If you look at the ice blue product images, the area I'm referring to is the piece that is blue with white splatter and white with blue splatter.) While the FreeStyle set is still comfortable, I do feel some pressure on my ear due to the size difference. The discomfort is not significant enough to pack it all back up and return, but I will purchase SoundTrue in the future when I eventually need to replace these. (Remember I use these EVERY NIGHT and fall asleep with these on, so replacement after a few years is expected.) I also use these 5 days a week for walking and 3 days a week for urban biking and both products have performed equally well. Some people have complained about these falling out of their ears and I have found that both products will come out of my ear if jogging (which I rarely do) but changing the StayHear tip from small to medium resolved this problem for me without affecting comfort since the silicone StayHear tips are so soft.

I have previously purchased many in-ear earbuds (including 2 older Bose models, Senheisser, Monster & Sony), Around-ear & On-ear headphones. Of all of them, I found all of the Bose in-ear to strike a nice balance between very good sound & excellent comfort. The sound presents a nice open airy type of sound with a good balance between lows, mids & highs. The low end could use a bit more bass & the high end could be a bit less tailored off. Mids are good. The overall sound is very good, very listenable, The comfort is outstanding. I can keep these in much longer than all other types of earphones or headphones. And the stay-in wings really keep the earphones in place without having to constantly readjust them like I have to do with all other types. I deducted 1 star due to the high price of the Bose. They are well made, as good as if not better than my other 2 older Bose models that are still holding up well after several years of use. But Bose seems to charge more than they should for this type of earbud (Bose charges too much for all of their products). However, I continue to buy new Bose in-ear models due to the nice balance of sound, comfort, new features & color options.

This headset is comfortable, and offers the quality sound you expect from Bose. They stay in when I run with them, and have a built-in microphone that works well. They do not keep out much ambient sound, meaning they are a safer choice for urban runners, but the tradeoff is that at the gym, they let in quite a bit of noise. They also come in a very nice case.

As a college student, I basically take headphones everywhere I go and they go through A LOT. I've gone through countless pairs of cheap headphones and finally received these as a gift. Admittedly I never knew much about sound quality and all that jazz but now I can definitely see why people drop money on quality headphones because these took my listening experience to another level. The sound is really rich and they pick up details in songs that I completely oblivious to before. The ear piece is wonderful for my tiny ear canals (I use the small size) and they are definitely not as obnoxious as straight-up earbuds are (I really hate those), these sit nicely in your ear to where they are comfortable and not going to fall out. I would definitely recommend these to anyone, and they make a perfect gift.

I typically do not spend this much on headphones/earbuds. However, since it was Bose and it was on sale I went ahead and purchased them. I have not been more pleased with a set of earbuds before. Not only do these earbuds sound fantastic but the fit is perfect. I have always had problems with earbuds staying in my ear. I have tried just about every shape and configuration you can imagine. The new system that Bose is using for these fit my ear like the proverbial glove. The buds stay firmly in place, even under running and jumping. I have never had a pair that would stay in for that, even the ones that clip around your ear. I am not super crazy about the colors but I am more than willing to overlook that because of the quality and the fit. I highly recommend these to anyone!

These are awesome headphones for tour workout, your road trip, your afternoon in the park and your good ole couch potato. The sound quality is astounding compared to a lot of headphones in the same price range. With an equalizer, the bass hits and the compilation of sounds dont sound cheap. it comes with a clothing clip and i only wish with this, that the cord was a tad longer, sometimes, i can clip it to high, and realize my device is tugged when i bring my head up. All in all,mthese are a must have, i see these lasting a long time, and when and if they do go dud, i have the insurance protecting me. very satisfied with this purchase from Bose.

Very comfortable earbuds, light and comfortably stayed in ears, sounds great!

The multiple size options make these a sure fit for most ears. I broke my last pair (my fault, I snapped the plug port off), and picked these up on a mega sale. I'm pleased that it came with the microphone, as I had the basic Bose pair previously. The case is a nice touch, to help keep them in good working condition. Very comfortable and great sound quality.

purchased these as birthday gift for my mom. We both have tons of headphones & hae gone thorugh a bunch of earbuds. Most earbuds dont last long or make my ear hurt or ache. these are super comfortable have a great sound can be worn for long hours and do not fall out. the also have a mic so that you can answer phone calls from it. adjust sound and skip to the next.

I have had numerous headphones over the past 3 years, and always wanted the Bose headphones, but didn't want to pay the high dollar. Last month, I finally decided I was going to bite the bullet and buy the product I'd wanted for so long. The old saying is you get what you pay for, and you pay high dollar for high quality. I use these headphones for a variety of activities, running, lifting weights, mowing the yard, and conference calls. I work from an in-home office and needed headphones that had a microphone and were comfortable to wear for long periods of time. I put these in and forget they're there. Unlike other headphones that fell out when I was running and sweating, these never fall out. I won't throw other brands under the bus, but I've tried 5 of the 'larger' known brands in the past 3 years and ultimately always had to get another pair. I would highly recommend these headphones for anyone looking.

I've owned Beats Tours 2.0 and various other ear buds. I find the new Bose earbuds to great sounding and very comfortable. Positives: Great fit Great Sound Very Sturdy Negative: Colors Not noise Canceling I would recommend these for any use from athletic to general use.

These headphones are absolutely awesome. Great sound, but best of all great feel. They stay in your ears even while working out, and are comfortable beyond belief. I've tried some of the other earbuds out there and nothing compares to Bose. It may cost a little more but it's well worth it.

So far so good. I'm no audiophile but the sound is great. Ear molds are very comfortable and come in multiple sizes. They have yet to pop out during any exercise. Also has a wire clip to clamp to your shirt to keep out of the way. My workout headphones only seem to last around 8 months so hopefully these set a new record.

I bought these for my daughter who is a music nut. She loves how this ear bud gives such a clear and vibrant sound. She said it is like listening to big professional speakers. The ear piece fits snug and comfortable and are light also. Great set for teens up.

I have never liked ear buds because after a while they start to hurt but I purchased these and let me tell you they are awesome! They are super comfortable and they provide different sizes too. The sound quality is great too and for the price, it was a steal.

I had the IE2 headphones for over 3 years. They were used during workouts nearly every single day over that period. They finally gave out at the connection of the wire to the earbud as it grew weak over time due to flexing and sweat/moisture. These headphones are very similar to those with the same internals (the driver), but with the sport specific enhancements to improve durability and functionality. Fit - these are the most secure, best fitting, and most comfortable earbuds I have tested. No matter the length of time in my ears, I never experienced any discomfort. The always stayed in my ears without any concern of falling out, regardless of intensity level during exercise. Bose has done a fantastic job in designing the earpiece. Durability - another huge win for these. My previous model lasted over 3 years, and with the improvements to the kevlar coated cable and water/sweat/moisture resistance of the earbud, I expect these to last just as long. By far better than any others I've tested (Shure, Monster, Beats, Sennheiser, and Sony). Sound quality - very balanced, sometimes a bit bass heavy. Overall the quality is excellent, although they can be a bit bass heavy dependent on the music settings. Noise isolation - adequate. They don't completely isolate ambient noise, so if that's what you're going for these aren't the best option. For fitness or working out, the have the ideal balance of isolation to ambient noise injection to allow you to hear what's going on around you (for example, passing cars or emergency vehicles during a run in the city). Cost - this was the only ding on these headphones for me. You're paying for the Bose name, but you're getting a quality product. I would have to see these priced closer to the $100 mark, similar to the IE2's I had before given the design isn't drastically different. An additional $30 seems a bit much.

I have had cheaper noise cancelling earphones before and thought they performed pretty well. But having used these earphones, there's just no comparison. I tried them in a busy airport and when I switched on noise cancelling it was like I was the only one in the airport. I found the earpieces with the hooks weird but very comfortable and they really stayed put. The noise cancelling feature is excellent. Having said all that, they're pretty expensive and I would expect nothing else for the price. For me, the control panel was a little close to the end of the cable (I would have liked it further up the cord).
