A: Great question! The newest model (which is the one I purchased) has a better battery life, it can now be charged with any microUSB cable (you can only charge the older model with the Bose cable), it has a built-in microphone so you can use it as a speakerphone, you can play/pause/skip songs using the new button on the top of the speaker, and it provides you with audio feedback (for example it talks to you when your device is connected). I like the newer model much better than the previous one, but that's just my opinion. Hope this helps!

A: This speaker does not allow you to pair more than one unit at a time to the same device. There are many others that do however. The UE Boom 2 and Megaboom are some that will allow this. You can even use one for a left channel and one for a right to get better stereo separation. This is becoming a more and more common feature.

Q: Is the pearl cover closer to silver or white?

A: I bought the pearl for my wife to match her iPhone but the unit is actually silver which does in fact match the silver of the white iPhones/iPads. Unless you're trying to match colors like I did, you cannot go wrong with either color.

A: No, you cannot. There is no USB slot for you to plug a USB drive into the Bose Soundlink Mini II. It pairs with bluetooth or an AUX cable

Buy this NOW!!! Best audio in this price range!
I'm the same as any consumer today. I spent the countless hours of online research searching for the best portable speaker in this price range. I tested them all in store and even purchased the Beats Pill 2.0. I thought I was satisfied until my neighbor purchased the BOSE Mini Soundlink 1 and I heard how clear and crisp the highs were and the nice deep punch of the lows. I immediately knew that the Bose was the one for me. I saw that this newer version was only a few days away from hitting the stores so I waited for the Soundlink Mini 2 and its now our favorite portable speaker. Its made of very sturdy materials and just feels like good quality when you pick it up. We now carry it everywhere in the house and have found that if you place it about 3-4" away from a kitchen back splash or wall it truly will amaze you at how BIG this tiny package really sounds. I even placed it in my printer cabinet in my office just playing around and you would have thought you were playing a full size shelf system from the 90's (see below pic). We have used this speaker pool side and everyone comes and asks about it and immediately say that they need one...so dont walk, but RUN right now to buy this amazing piece of engineering from BOSE.

Amazing sound for small speaker
The low end is hard to believe as with most Bose products. It is also louder than I expected. The only negative is that it does not charge up in countries with 220 - 240 volts, even though the power supply indicated it will. It would only charge in the electric razor 110 volt socket in my hotel. It is small and light enough to slip in a briefcase or backpack.

Great sounding and looking portable speaker
I have always been a fan of Bose products. This speaker has a really cool looking small compact design which allows you to take it on the go, however I also recommend buying a cover which is available in order to avoid cosmetic damage. I have never seen a speaker this small that has such clear sound. I previously purchased the Harman Kardon One because it was on special for $79.99 instead of 199.99 original price. I got home turned it on and then proceeded to put it back in the box and took it back. The sound quality was no where near what I was looking for. So I decided to give the Bose Soundlink Mini II a try and I couldn't be happier with it. I highly recommend this speaker. It's not something you would use to throw a party but for personal use around the house and little get togethers it's a perfect fit.
