Q: can it be washed off with water hose if mud gets on speakers?
A: Yes. We wash ours all the time.
A: Its water resistant, not water proof, sound is good, considering you plug it into a cigarette lighter. The different lights are cool. For the $ it's a great deal ,just dont submerge it ,it could leak and electrical parts and water do not mix. Rain ,snow etc,no biggie, be safe ,rather than sorry.
