The flagship of 800 Series Diamond is endowed with every new technology we have to offer. The reference quality 801 D4 also marks the return to our portfolio of one of our most storied model names- 801. 801 D4 steps up from 802 D4 by increasing the size of the bass drive units and the main cabinet is increased. 801 D4 features additional refinements found in no other model. The Continuum midrange drivers use a Silver cap in the motor assembly to reduce distortion caused by inductance. The bottom of the cabinet is further reinforced with a steel plate for additional rigidity which reduces distortion cause by cabinet resonances. Lastly, the crossover network features additional components from Mundorf which improves clarity. The Turbine Head is a carefully designed and tuned aluminium enclosure that houses the midrange driver. This inert structure avoids unwanted resonances and is decoupled from both the bass enclosure and the tweeter body. Cabinet stiffness has been increased with an Aluminium Plate that reinforces the top of the cabinet. Midrange performance has been dramatically improved with a new Biomemetic Suspension that replaces a conventional fabric spider with a groundbreaking innovation that reduces distortion behind the drive unit. The Solid Body Tweeter enclosure has been elongated, increasing air volume behind the diamond tweeter which improves the openness in high frequencies. The top section’s aluminium top-plate is covered in Leather by Connolly trim. We use luxurious, full-grain black leather for Gloss Black and Satin Rosenut finishes, and a light grey leather for White and Satin Walnut. Each new generation of 800 Series Diamond is a landmark event for Bowers & Wilkins. This is our benchmark and the most advanced range of loudspeakers we know how to make, equipped with our most sophisticated technologies and designed to deliver the upmost in sonic realism. The 800 Series Diamond is everything we know, and everything we are.
