Martin Brandqvist Quartet is a Swedish jazz group playing original compositions by composer, drummer and multi- instrumentalist, Martin Brandqvist. The music is lyrical Nordic jazz colored by influences from film music and African roots music. The band includes, in addition to Brandqvist on drums, Inge Petersson Lindbäck (saxophone), Mattias Hjorth (Bass), Johan Ohlsson (Piano). Martin Brandqvist grew up in a home characterized by jazz. Martins father, Håkan Brandqvist, is a composer and a jazz musician. Already at the age of 17, Martin played at the legendary jazz club Nefertiti in Gothenburg. Later he became an educated percussionist, in Sweden as well as in New York. He has a Bachelor of art in music from Malmoe University and at Drummers Collective in New York Martin met the legendary percussionist Frank Malabe and studied the Afro-Cuban and Brazilian tradition on drums. This resulted in a long period where Martin played with different bands all in the world music arena. Martin has toured with Vusi Mahlasela in South Africa and with Simbi on festivals in Haiti, Canada and France. As a composer, Martin has written the music for TV-series and movies, to which prizes have been awarded. His cooperation with the Swiss drawer Ted Sieger has resulted in several movies, among others The Fourth King and Molly and the Christmas Monster. In 2016 Martin formed his own jazz quartet with some of the most skilled and willful improvisers of Sweden today. The critically acclaimed debut album Reflections, was released. The reaction from the leading Swedish jazz press was strongly positive. The record was included in the Orkesterjournal's vote of the Golden Disc 2016 and received from 150 albums the second most of the listeners' voices.

The latest striking from soprano Roberta Invernizzi acts as a lightning conductor for this new vocal extravaganza from Glossa devoted to the Italian Baroque composer Francesco Gasparini. Invernizzi finds herself very much home both in the music, but also, so noticeably, with the words librettos from the likes of Zeno, Piovene or Salvi find this singer exercising her customary intelligence. Carlo Ipata, directing his ensemble Auser Musici, combines his natural and obvious flair for Italian and music of the time - he has also recorded the opera Il Bajazet for Glossa - with the painstaking demands of the research required to identify brilliant arias from slumbering the various shades of neglect. Gasparini wrote some sixty operas, as well as oratorios and many cantatas. For Invernizzi Ipata has crafted a beguiling selection from this abundance of music which proved so successful in both princely soirées in Rome and public theatres in Venice. Arias come from operas such as Il Roderigo and Amleto and oratorios such as L'oracolo del Fato and Atalia. As well as the cantata, Andate o miei sospiri, composed by Gasparini as part of a challenge undertaken jointly with Alessandro Scarlatti, Ipata and Auser Musici have added an attractive flute concerto written during his time as a teacher at Venice's Ospedale della Pietà

Already established in Brazil through songs such as InchSamba de VeraoInch (InchSummer SambaInch), Valle worked here with producer Creed Taylor on a recording that pairs Brazilian rhythmic forms with contemporary American studio orchestration. The sessions include vocals by Anamaria Valle and arrangements by Eumir Deodato. The repertoire features English-language versions of compositions co-written by Valle, including InchSo Nice (Summer Samba),Inch InchChup Chup, I Got Away,Inch and InchSafely In Your Arms,Inch alongside additional material that reflects his economical writing and feather-light rhythmic approach.
