About This Item

Fresh Selects' first foray into modern jazz music came in the form of 'Somewhere In Between' - the aptly titled debut album from Braxton Cook. A first on a few different fronts - before this album, Braxton was known predominantly as a saxophonist and instrumental composer, making waves through his collaborations with Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, Butcher Brown and multiple appearances on NPR's coveted Tiny Desk series. But here, Braxton first unveiled another side of his talent - splitting the LP between furthering his own signature style in new original jazz for the younger, hip-hop generation (a sound he coins here as InchMillennial MusicInch) and for the first time, taking to the mic to show off his R&B side and love for classic soul music - resulting in a one-of-a-kind bridge between both genres and generations alike. Originally released only on digital & CD - this modern classic is now available on vinyl - with the option of both a limited editon, deluxe clear vinyl or standard edition black. Both editions of the LP come housed in a sleek, custom-designed album jacket with a die-cut silhouette front cover, giving collectors their choice of either a black or salmon colored background behind it, plus a printed inner-sleeve with photos from the album's original recording sessions. Album Tracks 1. Millennial Music (Intro) 2. You're the One 3. Fjyd 4. I Can't 5. Hymn (For Trayvon Martin) 6. Until 7. Mathis' Tune (Interlude) 8. Somewhere in Between 9. Run Away 10. Pariah 11. Never Thought 12. The Gospel
