Breaking Spirits - DVD

Spirit Halloween is a chain of stores that typically open for business in August, offering holiday costumes and decoration for rabid fans of the season and families trying to solve any outfit issues in one fell swoop. Spirit Halloween is big news these days, with the fetishization of Halloween growing more intense every year, and the company seems perfectly comfortable with jabs at it's business model, taking over buildings previously inhabited by retail failures. InchSpirit HalloweenInch is the first film based on the brand, emerging as seasonal entertainment for younger viewers and a commercial for the stores, pitting excitable kids against possessed inventory. Director David Poag and screenwriter Billie Bates seem to understand the creative mission, creating broad emotion and conflicts to help inspire a mildly enjoyable adventure in the InchGoosebumpsInch tradition, keeping things relatively easygoing and mercifully short.

Piloting his family over Appalachia for his father's funeral, self-made lawyer Marquis T. Woods (Omari Hardwick) couldn't keep his plane from going down... and he woke up alone in the attic of the kindly-seeming Ms. Eloise (Loretta Devine). As she ministers to him, it becomes increasingly evident that he's not free to leave-and that she, and her dark magic practicing community, have an unholy agenda. Frightening effort also stars Lorraine Burroughs, John Beasley, Hannah Gonera, Kalifa Burton. 91 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English.

Bruce Willis stars as Clay, a hardened mechanic selected to maintain an interstellar ark, leaving Earth from a catastrophic plague. Bound for a new planet, Clay and his small crew are responsible for the safety of the last surviving humans. But when a teammate is brutally murdered, the crew discovers a terrifying new threat a vicious, shape-shifting alien creature whose goal is to wipe out the human race before they reach their new home. Hunted by their invisible enemy, Clay must find a way to fight what they cannot even see and protect mankind from total extinction. Thomas Jane (The Predator), Cody Kearsley (Riverdale) and Rachel Nichols (Star Trek) also star in this thrilling Sci-Fi action movie.
