InchWhen he was dying, and they had to rush him into another room because he was flatlining, Terry was singing.Inch That's Billy Brett of the Virginia industrial blues band - he's relating bandmate Terry Turtle's last Earthly moments, rocking out as he crossed to the other side. For fifteen years, Buck Gooter has been one of the underground's hardest working bands, releasing eighteen full-length albums (if you don't count any of the live albums) and playing over seven-hundred shows. Buck Gooter is the story of two musicians who went from acquaintances to friends to family, creating a singular discography in the process, and not letting anything stand in the way. At the end of his life, Turtle charged Brett with continuing as Buck Gooter. Finer Thorns is the Buck Gooter's 18th album in 14 years, and second for independent Philadelphia tag Ramp Local. The band has managed to gain the recognition of underground luminaries like Henry Rollins, and have toured in both the United States and Europe with A Place To Bury Strangers, Guerilla Toss, and ONO - their live shows are possibly even more energetic than their breakneck recordings. Finer Thorns is their most refined record, but by no means should InchrefinedInch be confused with Inchgentle.Inch In some ways, Finer Thorns is a protest album, musing on the environment, violence, resource allocation, and colonialism - spoiler alert they're not into colonialism. Spend a few minutes talking to Buck Gooter, and you're liable to be shocked and inspired. In the band's 14 years, Buck Gooter's been a subcultural force, but following their first LP on Ramp Local, 100 Bells, Buck Gooter's finally started to crest their head out of their underground hole.1. Big Crown Records is proud to present Zero Grace, Liam Bailey's sophomore album on the tag. Following the success of 2020's Ekundayo album, the tried and true chemistry of Bailey and producer Leon Michels (El Michels Affair) is on full display again as they take the sound they established and push it further. On Zero Grace they lean more into the bleeding heart singer-songwriter side of Liam. The result, much like Bailey himself, is impulsively honest without reserve.Born and raised in Nottingham, England, the son of an English mother and 2nd generation Jamaican English father, Liam will admit his early childhood was fairly chaotic and filled with Inchall the cliche racism that happens when people started mixing up in the '80s in England.Inch Liam got his early influences from his mom's record collection. Bob Marley and Dillinger, Stevie Wonder and The Supremes, The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix would eventually shape the singer/songwriter we know today. Fast-forward to 2005, Liam is in London performing at every open mic and acoustic night he could, hustling with hopes of landing a record deal. It was through this time that Liam first teamed up with Michels, musician/producer luminary, and the co-founder of Brooklyn's own Big Crown Records. Liam flew out to New York and those first sessions together produced the now classic tunes InchWhen Will They LearnInch and InchI'm Gonna Miss YouInch which still gets spins at Reggae spots around the globe and were co-signed by heavy hitters like David Rodigan & Don Letts.That first trip to NYC brought a lot of industry attention to Liam, including being noticed by a just-famous Amy Winehouse who heard one of Liam's apartment-made, lo-fi recordings, and liked what she heard.
