Buxton - A Family Light - VINYL LP

Searing sax instrumentals from the great King Curtis - plus a lot more too - as this package not only brings together the King's records as a leader for Enjoy Records, but also digs up lots of performances as a sideman for that famous Harlem record tag too! The grooves here are raw and ready, nice and tight, and done with a nitty gritty style that might have been funk if the cuts were recorded a few years later - but which definitely had a bit influence on countless soul instrumental modes to come, both in the rhythms and in King's wicked lead work on saxophone! The package features some of the best instrumental singles that Curtis cut for Enjoy Records, from his Soul Twist album and other singles - and CD2 also features material that Curtis cut for Enjoy as a soloist on records for other artists! CD1 features 18 tracks that include InchSoul TwistInch, InchTwisting TimeInch, InchThe Monkey ShoutInch, InchHot PotatoInch, InchMidnight BlueInch, InchBeatnick HoedownInch, InchKing Neptune's GuitarInch, InchWobble TwistInch, InchWhat'd I Say (parts 1 & 2)Inch, and InchBig DipperInch. Vinyl LP pressing. Steadily building their artistic style and audience over the past five years, New Jersey-based alternative folk band Cold Weather Company produces a diverse sound, rich with harmonies and instrumental builds. The band combines the various writing approaches and influences of it's three members, Brian Curry, Jeff Petescia, and Steve Shimchick, to create unique arrangements with intricate layering. For their third full-length album Find Light, they've roped in a number of friends and contemporaries on percussion, bass, cello, violin, trumpet, flute, sax and clarinet, creating a soundtrack that moves far beyond the lean sounds of 2015's Somewhere New and 2016's A Folded Letter. InchWe're really proud of the first two albums, which we recorded ourselves, but we didn't want to miss the opportunity to fill these new songs out with additional instrumentation,Inch says Petescia, one of the group's two guitarists. InchWe wanted to give each song the sound it deserved.Inch
