About this product

Echo Mine is Califone's score to Robyn Mineko Williams' dance. The movement and the music started together and grew together, like two clear entities. At times totally intertwined and at other times bouncing off one another, sort of like reflections. But, somehow, always connected and listening. Ben Massarella, Brian Deck and I worked in a way that felt like a return to home; Brian handling the engineering, electronics, drums and overall sound of the piece, Ben adding percussion, feel, essential textures and colors. I felt like my job was to hover over all of it like a moth. Find melody in everything. Leave openings for everyone to work at the top of their creativity. We made our album, Roomsound, in much the same way (almost 20 years ago). Three of us in the studio ' Be humans. Play together as much as possible. A good feel beats perfection every time. Add other musicians to add other voices and other colors, to do the things we can't do. Album Tracks 1. Romans 2. Bandicoot 3. Night Gallery / Projector 4. Howard St & the Beach Nov 1988 After 11 5. Flawed GTR 6. Echo Mine 7. Carlton Says Find It 8. It's Still There 9. Snow Angel V1 10. By the Time the Starlight Reaches Our Eyes 11. Snow Angel V2

Califone's debut album 'Roomsound' - Originally self released in April of 2001. 'Roomsound' covers the same rustic, slightly ramshackle back forty that Tim Rutili has been ploughing through since his previous band Red Red Meat. Only this time the tilled bedrock unveils the most vividly colored, luring crop of songs Rutili has ever harvested. The sleepy, country-blues picking and autumnal backwoods melodies are accented with striking splashes of electronic tone color, obsolete keyboards and off-kilter percussion. Lyrically, 'Roomsound' penetrates the breath of pirates, poison apples at a tango contest and the waiting room between death and canonization where missionaries have quit and 19th-century prostitutes have been rescued for all the wrong reasons. Masterfully produced by Brian Deck, the album is vaulted far beyond the sum of it's parts. Album Tracks 1. Trout Silk 2. Bottles & Bones (Shade and Sympathy) 3. Fisherman's Wife 4. Poro Starlet Vs. Rodeo Clown 5. Tayzee Nub 6. Slow RT. Hand 7. St. Augustine (A Belly Full of Swans) 8. Wade in the Water 9. Rattlesnakes Smell Like Split Cucumber 10. New Black Tooth 11. Mittens (4-Track Version) (Bonus Track) 12. Stanza VIII (Bonus Track) 13. Cluck Old Hen (Bonus Track) 14. Wade in the Water (4-Track Version) (Bonus Track) 15. Silver & Gold (Bonus Track)
