The environment is dark, wet, and unpleasant. The people are all repulsive and hateful. The themes are existential dread and the inconsequentialness of human endeavors. It's definitely a Lovecraftian game. If you can get onboard with that, you'll like it. If cosmic horror ain't your thing, you probably won't. If you like the "Call of Cthulhu" tabletop roleplaying game, this is a pretty faithful adaptation systems-wise. The hero is unlikable. The setting is uncomfortable. The outlook is bleak. It's perfect. I knocked a star off for technical reasons. This really wants to run on something with better hardware. It's not unplayable, but their are things like effect inconsistencies or the animation rigs being inexpressive.

Overall, I’m really enjoying this game. It’s a solid adventure game, though I’m not sure how it stacks up to th board game it’s based on. The game is slightly janky, but not so much that it hinders the game. The game isn’t much of a looker, its strengths lie more in its story and atmosphere.

Good Lovecraft influenced game focused more on atmosphere and narrative rather than action. If you are a fan of H.P. Lovecraft, this is a nice ‘Cosmic Horror’ game to experience before the upcoming game ‘The Sunken City’.

this game overall has a great lovecraftian atmosphere with rpg elements. my only complaint is that the game feels more like a ps3 game rather than ps4. i don't know if i would recommend buying at $60 but it's definitely worth a $40 purchase if you're willing to wait for the eventual price drop.

Its a decent horror game, the main story is at least 2 hours long. And you have 4-6 hours if you take your time. I feel it will be a cult classic, if you liked the VAMPYR game this has a look to it.

I’ve been a longtime fan of Lovecraft adaptations. Everything from books, movies and video games. I also own the Xbox game with same title. This game is great, but may not be for everyone. If you like point and click adventure or Sherlock games, then you should like this. You play a private detective looking into a mysterious death on a remote island. The graphics are not up to the best PS4 standards though. Character models are a bit rough, and the graphics are down graded. The story is great though, and a must own for horror fans. Grab it while you can at BB’s great price. This could also become a rare game in the future.

Call of cthulhu is an ivestigation game where depending on the questions and decisions you take affects the story. The dialogue is really good and interesting it makes you want to know what is really going on. If you like good stories? Play the game im sure you will enjoy it

If you're a fan of H.P. Lovecraft, I would highly recommend this game. A great detective story the spirals into horror & madness.

Great story, but short on content and no replay value.

It can be a bit glitchy and dull at times but if you stick with it for awhile you'll eventually get to the good stuff. Grind through this one and you'll be compensated with a good game. It's worth it for a say $20 price tag.

I got this game like the day it came out and was terribly disappointed after waiting months and months and being intrigued by the promos. Absolutely not worth full retail price I paid. It was overhyped and overpriced. This just wasn't developed or executed as well as they claimed. It looks really pretty and tries to carry a mysterious vibe, but it was really boring and clunky to me. I played like an hour and a half and haven't touched it since.

This game is just a good old time. I wasn't looking for complicated or hard. My wife and I just wanted a seamless good story of the cosmic horror kind and this delivered. Played twice for the alternate ending.

I don't play a lot of video games, but I was compelled to play this through to completion because... well... Lovecraft! I gotta say, it was a lot of fun and there were moments I was genuinely spooked. Great game.

Call of Cthulhu is a great game, with amazing atmosphere, great pacing, the narrative draws you in more into madness. Great horror game for horror fans. Recommended

Kid wanted this game for a minute. Played the game from day one and has enjoyed it.
