The Canon 17mm-40mm Zoom lens is incredible. For the money, this lens meets all of my needs for covering corporate receptions, dinners, lunches and conferences. What I like about it over the 24mm-70mm and the 24mm-105mm lenses is that is is so much sharper. I try to avoid zooming back to 17mm unless it's a room shot. Staying between 24mm & 40mm and adjusting my distance to the subjects gives me minimum distortion at the edges and clean, crisp & colorful images that meet my client's requirements as well as my own. This was a great purchase.

I have other zoom lenses in this focal length, but Canon's 17-40 F4L is the sharpest and lightest of these lenses hands down. I can even do tack sharp handheld landscape images without a tri pod within reasonable shutter speeds of say 1/80 second and up. I don't really miss the IS for what I'm using this lens for and enjoy the savings accordingly.

Does great In corners; Reduce vignetting and distortions. Chromatic aberration is minimal. Very compact, decent weight, extremely durable and well-built.

I am in love with this lens. Super sharp, love using the wider focal length for my fashion portraits. I don't have any issues with image stabilization. Auto focus is pretty quick and quiet. I would definitely recommend this lens, especially if you're into shooting high fashion or getting more environments into your shots. I will attach some small images I took with this lens

Took the Lense to Zion national park and I'm amazed at the level of quality color and image of the photos I felt like leaving the car behind and just walk for days just taking pictures

Purchased the 17-40mm f/4 from Best Buy in Westbury, Long Island (great camera and photo staff there, btw) to replace my 16-35mm f/2.8. I shoot weddings (bunch of rescheduled shoots due to the virus) and the range of these wide angle zooms is a must for many parts of the wedding day shoot. I understand this is more a landscape or casual lens, but this 17-40mm is lightweight, weather sealed (need a UV filter to complete weather sealing), and it's very good at its maximum f/4. However, if you stop it down just a little, it yields some really sharp and excellent results across the frame. For weddings, no matter what lens I'm using, I typically find myself shooting at f/4 much of the day anyway, and I have L prime lenses I pull out for the really low-light situations. On top of it all, I got this 17-40mm on sale and saved a boatload $$$$$ compared to the latest 16-35mm f/2.8 III. Highly recommend.

This lens changed my life. I am being literal here, this lens literally changed the way I shoot and the shots I have captured have blown me away. A wide angle lens is, I'm told, meant to be used up close and personal with your subject. I hear a voice in the back of my head going, "Don't use it to get it all in the shot" but you know what, that's garbage. This lens has taken ginormous trees and fit them in my frame with outstanding results. I have captured scenes that would not fit in a standard lens and just cropped them slightly to remove the distortion effects. Up close and personal this lens gets you a different, more realistic, view of your subject. In city streets and markets you get a sense of being surrounded by activity and this lens captures a great majority of it. I have left this on my camera for the whole day and never thought twice about switching to a standard lens. One word of caution - warn your subject that you will be getting up "REAL" close to get the shot otherwise you might look a little cuckoo.

As a photographer and photography teacher, I consider every photography purchase a long-term investment, so I only buy Canon's L series lenses. Shooting landscapes in the Southwest convinced me that I needed the 17-40, and it has given me the results I want when paired with a Canon 5D Mark 2 body. I can get great panoramic shots without much barrel distortion, and the image clarity is top quality.

After extensively researching about a good wide angle lens, I decided to purchase this one. The price is right and the quality of this lens is superb. Great for outdoor pictures, works very well with my Canon T5i, fast focus and great image quality.

This lens is a great value. It is sharp in the corners if you stop it down to f:8 and is weather sealed. For this money, a great lens.

Use for interior real estate. Great clarity, color and sharpest at mid range. At full open just slight drop off on corners but easy fix in post production. Can't beat for the price.

Cannn hit it out of the park. This lens is just what I needed to create incredible detailed wedding portraits. The wide angle is really wide and the focus is very sure and quiet.

I needed a lens for wide angle landscape shots. All outdoor with mostly bright sun so the speed of the lens wasn't much of an issue. Very pleased with the results.
