My wife and I purchased this lens to be used at a low light wedding. We purchased it for the wide aperture, and the 85mm length, allowing us to now be right on top of the ceremony. This lens worked beautifully. Love the depth of field we are able to create, and the beautiful bokeh that comes with it. The images come out crisp, and clean every time. One thing to note, for those who may not know. When using this type of lens, you will not want to solely relay on your camera's auto focus. A manual touch is sometimes required to ensure that your subject will be in focus. There were times when my AF said it was in focus, and I had to adjust it slightly to get everything as clean as I wanted.

Bought this Lens for my 70d and it has provided high quality photos for portraits and outdoor / street photography. Now with the 5d mark iii I feel it is being fully utilized. Unless you are strictly going to shoot at 1.2, this is a great lens to shoot wide open and even narrow. Focal length is great for not distorting the subjects and adds enough bokeh to the image. Love the shallow depth of field, speed, and very light weight. Such an affordable lens is def a must get for your list.

I love this focal length. I use this lens more than any other lens in my camera bag It is built well and at a great price point. Nice bokeh for portraits. Although the lens hood is not so nice, I recommend using one on this lens. This lens tends to get lens flares from street lights and automobiles when shooting urban photography at night.

I read several of the online reviews before purchasing this lens. It is my go to for portraits. The images are crisp and clear with a beautiful bokeh. I used by 50mm f/1.8 religiously until I bought this lens. The image quality produced by the 85mm is above and beyond that of the 50mm.

Just getting into photography and wrapping my head around all the concepts and theories by go into it, that being said, this was my first lens aside from the kit and I must say I’m in love! Beautiful bokeh, sharp images, and excellent in low light conditions. I don’t see myself parting with it anytime soon!

This is a great lens. I have a Canon 80D so it’s a crop sensor and I have to be a bit further away from the subject for a full body shot but worth it. Pictures come out crisp and the bokeh is wonderful. I’d recommend this lens for those of us that can’t afford the 1.2 or 1.4 just yet.

I use this on a T7i and a 6D Markii. It is fairly sharp on both, definitely sharper on a full frame. Nice bokeh, f1.8 on a full frame is excellent indoors. For the price I am very happy with it.

This lens is a dream. Creates great bokeh, making for beautiful portraits. Also works wonderful at my sons' basketball games where there is not always great lighting for pictures.

I was kinda iffy about getting this lens since I’ve been using the EOS R and canon has been releasing so many 85mm lens but the best Buy reps at gateway El Paso allows you to try the lens in the showcase thanks to Chris I tried it loved and got it on spot funny this is the shipment has just got in, the store was closed with me inside and they literally pulled the 85mm lens out of the stock that has just arrived just so I could have it ever since it has been my most used lens so far I love the quality of photos I get from it.

Ok, yet another one of my favorites lenses. I guess Canon lenses are like sports cars, each one is unique and I can't say a bad thing about the ones I own except maybe I did not NEED one of them (not this one though). This is a peach of a lens. You will have excellent portraits with this but not only that, some really great pictures of some interesting objects as well.

A wonderful lens that offers amazing aperature to create some beautiful DoF in shots. I use it with my EOS 6D and get quick, quality photos. The 85mm is kind of rough when working in smaller spaces (need to stand at least 5-10ft away to avoid weird cut offs/tangents, but definitely worth the price if you're doing portraits! (Ignore my WB, I was in a rush to test out the lens!)

I purchased this lens for shooting senior pictures in the spring. I mostly use this lens just after sunrise or before dusk. It takes a little time to acclimate but I have gotten some great shots. Ovetall very pleased for the the price

I bought this lens for portraits. It has been wonderful so far. I think I like it more than my 50mm 1.8. It's a good alternative til I can afford the better L version.

Lovveee this lens. Perfect for bokeh shots as well. This was the first photo I took using it. My son was just under the table just playing his toy and I was so impressed from the start!

This camera lens is great for getting portrait shots. It definitely has a better to feel to it than a lens that comes with a camera. Easy to us. I often switch between the autofocus and manual. Used it recently for an engagement shoot.
