Customer Ratings & Reviews

The Canon EOS R8 is a versatile and highly capable camera that punches well above its weight. It’s perfect for photographers and videographers who value image quality, advanced features, and portability. Whether you’re upgrading from an older DSLR or looking to dive into full-frame mirrorless photography, the R8 delivers exceptional value. Despite its small size, the grip is comfortable and well-designed, making it easy to handle even large RF lenses. Its compact body fits snugly into small bags, which is convenient for traveling and packing light. This camera lacks in-body image stabilization, but its lightweight design and lens-based stabilization compensate for this. The single SD card slot may be a downside for some, but it’s a reasonable trade-off for the price. Highly recommended for creators of all levels!

The R8 is a camera with fantastic features, ideal as an initiation camera, second camera body and even as a main camera, in my case it was my main camera for a long period of time, it is light and the camera body is small which allows it to be easily transported, it uses Canon LP E17 batteries, with a good duration according to the use that is being given to it, however the additional original materials of the brand are not expensive, in my normal workflow I transport three batteries, the only "bad" thing is that it has only one memory slot, It would be perfect if it were double. The quality of the screen and the viewfinder is perfect, I have a camera cage for protection and to be able to add accessories, 100% recommended

The Canon R8 is a welcomed upgrade from my previous Canon 6D Mark I. While the 6D's image quality is still incredible, I found that the R8's autofocus and tech improvements in the machine made photography much easier. Can I accomplish similar results on a 6D? Probably. However it is much easier to accomplish these tasks mainly in the vein of portrait photography! Super fun, great camera. Incredible bang for buck. Considered the R6MII, but to be honest, I didn't need the dual SIM card and IBIS and yes battery is weak but far from usable. Rather would put the $1k of savings into a new lens!

I use my Canon EOS R8 on a daily basis. So far the workflow is perfect, I love the videos and photos I take, the camera is a little bit lighter than my previous one, which is nice. and I love the easy switch between photos and videos. I’m very happy with the purchase.

The Canon EOS R8 is a fantastic mirrorless camera that delivers excellent image quality and solid performance. It's lightweight, easy to use, and captures stunning 4K video. Autofocus is fast and accurate, making it great for both photography and videography. Highly recommended!

I have been shooting for about 7 years now, originally with my T6 and now the R8 and i absolutely love this camera. The image quality is spectacular, I can crop in a fair bit on my photos and still have a useable image. It’s not a huge or heavy camera either which I really do appreciate The viewfinder is great, and the battery life is pretty good if you know how to get the most out of it

I have owned multiple Canon cameras, but this is my favorite. The autofocus is faster than my R6, and it’s much lighter to carry around all day. It takes excellent pictures. It also connected to the Canon app faster than my other cameras. I always feel like I have to fuss with the connectivity, but not with the R8. It connected lightning fast.

probably the best camera for its price point. for starters it is the cheapest full frame camera that can be purchased brand new from any brand. (other than the older EOS RP) I recommend against getting the kit that comes with the lens. instead spend that extra $200 towards an RF 50 1.8 or an EOS EF to R adapter and a EF 50 1.8. Buy an EF adapter means you can buy old EF lens on Ebay, so even someone on a budget can own some fantastic lenses. Low light performance is fantastic, especially when shooting RAW and using lightroom denoise or any other software. The sensor and autofocus system is the exact same as the one from the R6 Mark II, meaning that it is professional grade. The only difference is that the body is less durable, has less SD card slots, and is missing the second dial for control. The video capabilities are amazing as it can do 4k video down sampled from 6k. This fills up your memory card rather quickly and you need a fast memory card for it. Overall, this is the perfect camera for people who are into the tech but on a budget/ not a pro. If you are strictly on a budget, the EOS RP might be a better deal as it is also full frame but 500 dollars cheaper.

Loving the Canon R8 so far—super sharp photos, fast autofocus, and great in low light. Light to carry and perfect for both photo and video. Definitely a solid full-frame choice!

Took this over to the Great Sand Dunes national park. Perfect carry size, and compatible with old EOS lenses with an adapter. Excellent low light performance and less bulk compared to mirrored DSLR

I thought at first I wasn’t going to like this camera but after using it the first time I fell in LOVE! AF is on point & it’s super easy to use.

Beast! took me a while to think about getting this. Battery sucks, and overheating sometimes but i am used to it. For the battery issue, i just got extra ones and a battery pack. (havent used the battery pack i specifically got for this.) took a bit of time to get used to the focus. no IBIS. i upgraded from from canon m50 mkii.

The Canon EOS R8 features a 24.2MP full-frame sensor, Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, and 4K video at 60fps. Its compact, user-friendly design and solid performance make it ideal for photographers and videographers. Despite lacking in-body stabilization, it's a great choice for on-the-go shooting.

This is a very good value camera. It has nearly identical specs to their more expensive r6mkii ,and the auto focus system is top notch. The ability to have two types of shutters (being electronic 1st curtain and electronic) is great especially because it allows you to shoot at up to 1/8000 sec and 40fps. In other words you cant go wrong with this camera for the price.

The Canon EOS R8 is a highly recommended camera for a lot of reasons, Image Quality: The EOS R8 features a full-frame sensor that delivers exceptional image quality with impressive detail, dynamic range, and low noise performance. It produces high-resolution images with accurate colors, making it suitable for a wide range of photographic applications RF Lens System is incredible, The EOS R8 is part of Canon’s RF lens ecosystem, which offers a growing lineup of high-quality lenses specifically designed for the EOS R series. These lenses take advantage of the new mount’s larger diameter and shorter flange distance, resulting in excellent optical performance and advanced features such as improved autofocus speed and image stabilization. Customizable Controls and Ergonomics: The EOS R8 offers customizable controls and a well-designed ergonomic layout, allowing photographers to tailor the camera’s operation to their preferences. The electronic viewfinder and articulating touchscreen make it easy to compose shots from various angles, while the intuitive menu system ensures a user-friendly experience. Video Capabilities: The Canon EOS R excels in video recording, supporting 4K UHD at 60fps! That’s incredible

I am very much the amateur but even using the auto function still results in a beautiful image quality. I look forward to learning more but for now I can say that it is easy to handle and operate and would encourage anyone looking for a new camera to consider the EOS R8.

Very simple to learn & the quality of the photos are phenomenal. There’s so many accessories including 3rd party accessories that are compatible. I’m saying this as an amateur photographer.. literally started this last month.

I like the canon r8 im not a professional photographer this camera is amazing . I’ll recommend buying this.

I have used it for pretty much 2 years and honestly the best camera I’ve ever bought I’ve gone to racing events to the beach and even used it for plane events! The battery is a 7/10 tho… but just buy 3 more batteries your good for the whole day!

I purchased this camera because, with an adapter, I can continue using my vintage Canon FL and FD lenses. It also works perfectly with my Canon FL Bellows and Slide Duplicator, allowing me to efficiently archive my extensive collection of 35mm slides and film. It works like a charm.
