Q: Which lense for high school sports.....mainly football & soccer?
A: Since most games are played in the afternoon and night, and have lots of motion, these lenses aren't going to serve you well for those kinds of shots. You may get a good shot here and there with good light and fast shutter speeds, but to get good tight or action images, you are going to need at least a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens. For daylight, you might be OK with a 70-200mm f/4. The only thing is that these lenses are expensive. For the faster glass extended range telephoto zoom lenses, you are going to pay at least $1500+, which is a sizeable investment if you are not a pro. If you are a soccer mom who is shooting in daylight most of the time, just get a good tripod and be sure you have the skills to know how to get the types of shots you want. Get close as possible to the action. Don't rely on the camera presets too much. The auto-focus and stabilization are pretty good though. Best advice - know how to use your camera and practice, practice, practice!

A: Great for macro shooting but would recommend a macro lens for best results.
