About this product

Fade To Black is Carmen Lundy's 16th album and one of her most personal to date. Grammy® Nominated for her previous album Modern Ancestors, these 11 original songs, written and arranged by Carmen Lundy, were conceived during the challenging months of the pandemic and reflect this time of great loss, sorrow, healing, and hope for a brighter, more inclusive future for us all. Tackling the difficult social issues of our time while also musing on the joys of love and relationships, this stunning set of songs takes us on an emotional journey that culminates in the extraordinary hymn-like ballad titled InchRest In PeaceInch. Jazzy, passionate, introspective, thoughtful, smart, kind, honoring and loving, Carmen has crafted an album without borders that transfixes it's listeners. Carmen Lundy explains, InchI approached the writing of this work from being in this moment in time - not necessarily looking back, but observant of the times we live in NOW. Traditional Jazz composition involves understanding it's evolution and the spirit of improvisation. In this complete oeuvre, I wanted to explore different approaches to harmonic progressions, extended forms, and subtle rhythmic concepts while providing plenty of space for the lyrics and melodies to sing and tell stories without necessarily feeling the need to represent preconceived ideas about vocal jazz, harmonies and rhythms.Inch A stellar group of musicians accompany Carmen on InchFade To BlackInch including Kenny Davis on acoustic and electric bass, Giveton Gelin on trumpet, Morgan Guerin on tenor sax, Terreon Gully on drums, Curtis Lundy on acoustic bass, Andrew Renfroe on guitar, Wallace Roney Jr. On trumpet, Julius Rodriguez on piano, Camille Thurman on tenor sax and keyboard prodigy Matthew Whitaker on organ and keyboards.

Carmen Lundy - CODE NOIR - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The stunning new CD from vocalist/composer Carmen Lundy. Never one to limit her creative journeys, Lundy explores the realms of Jazz, Blues, Brazilian Samba and Pop with a multitude of messages that reflect not only the complexities of her own mindset, but the disparity of the world at large. Poignant, heartfelt, joyous, shocked, saddened and impassioned are just a few of the emotions conveyed by this wonderfully evocative singer on Code Noir in a highly personal musical voyage. Masterfully accompanying Carmen on the new album is Patrice Rushen on piano who once again joins Carmen on this outing, Ben Williams on acoustic and electric bass, Jeff Parker on electric guitar, Kendrick Scott on drums and percussion and Elisabeth Oei on background vocals. In addition to vocals, Lundy also plays keyboards and guitar and wrote or co-wrote and arranged all the songs.

Carmen Lundy - Solamente - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Renowned for her extraordinary vocal prowess and songwriting skill, Carmen Lundy moves far beyond our expectations, arranging, producing, recording, mixing and playing every instrument on Solamente. Originally recorded to serve as reference demos of new compositions, the recordings so moved listeners that Lundy was persuaded to them as they were, with every second, every note a reflection of an artist at her creative peak.

Syd Barrett - An Introduction To Syd Barrett - VINYL LP
5.0(1)

A reissue of the 2010 collection that brought together for the first time the tracks of Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett on one compilation. David Gilmour, who originally worked on Syd Barrett's two solo albums, as co-producer of The Madcap Laughs and as producer of Barrett, was the executive producer for the album. Damon Iddins and Andy Jackson at Astoria Studios remixed five tracks including 'Octopus', 'She Took A Long Cool Look', 'Dominoes' and 'Here I Go', with David Gilmour adding bass guitar to the last track. Pink Floyd's 'Matilda Mother' also received a fresh 2010 mix.
