Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine - Straw Donkey - the Complete Singles - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Formed in 1987 Fruitbat and Jim Bob, Carter the Unstoppable S*x Machine burst onto the scene with their signature style of punk-pop infused with samples, drum machines, and social commentary. Hot on the heels of their No. 1 album 1992 The Love Album which propelled the band to pop stardom, Carter USM returned with Post Historic Monsters. To move away from the sound they had become known for, the band explored new musical styles with Jim Bob beginning to write more personal lyrics. The results were met with critical acclaim, and the album climbed to No. 5 on the UK album charts. This new edition features the complete album newly remastered on CD 1, including the singles Lean On Me I Won't Fall Over and Lenny And Terrence. CD 2 features rarities, B-sides, and the single Glam Rock Cops, whilst CD 3 boasts a new live album Up Pompey! Live In Portsmouth recorded on tour in 1993. Completing the set is a DVD featuring promo videos, Top Of The Pops appearances, plus a recently unearthed recording of the band playing at their spiritual home, Brixton Academy, during the Post Historic Monsters tour. All appearing on DVD for the first time and accompanied by exclusive new commentary by Jim Bob and Fruitbat. Whilst Carter USM are no longer active, Jim Bob has recently announced his latest book Where Songs Come From The Lyrics and Origin Stories of 150 Solo and Carter USM Songs due for in autumn 2024, and Fruitbat will be touring the UK across 2024 with his group Abdoujaparov.

Esoteric Antenna is delighted to announce the of the new studio album by the legendary band STRAWBS. Settlement is the latest album recorded by STRAWBS, more than 50 years on from the band's first major tag . The album comes at a time of political and social upheaval, which the lyrics and melodies of the songs reflect. Undeterred by the fact that 'business as usual' was not possible because of the global COVID-19 pandemic - working remote from one another, from their own home studios - Settlement is a remarkable achievement.David Cousins, leader of STRAWBS says InchSettlement is something extraordinary. I can't think of another band who can go from metal grunge to the lilt of an Irish ghost story - or from a song in 6/8 time to singing in 4/4 over a 5/4 backbeat - in half an hour. The lyrics reflect the times we have been living through and I'm immensely proud of what we've achieved.InchSettlement is produced by Blue Weaver, who played with Strawbs and Bee Gees in their 1970s heydays. The recording was coordinated from Blue's studio in Germany, where he now lives. STRAWBS are David Cousins, Dave Lambert, Chas Cronk, Tony Fernandez and Dave Bainbridge. Special guests on the album are John Ford, another former member of Strawbs, who lives in New York, Cathryn Craig, with her lovely voice and unmistakable Southern lilt, who lives in Northern Ireland, and bass player Schalk Joubert, with whom David Cousins performed in South Africa at the beginning of the year. There comes a time when every Settlement is due!Available both on CD and 180 gram vinyl formats.
