Castanets - In the Vines - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2017 from the Canadian duo. Japandroids consists of Brian King and David Prowse. Their third album, Near To The Wild Heart Of Life, was written clandestinely throughout 2014 and 2015 in Vancouver, Toronto, New Orleans, and Mexico City. It was (mostly) recorded at Rain City Recorders in Vancouver, BC with one song, InchTrue Love And A Free Life Of Free WillInch, recorded at Golden Ratio in Montreal, QC. The title, Near To The Wild Heart Of Life, comes from a passage in the novel A Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man by James Joyce InchHe was alone. He was unheeded, happy, and near to the wild heart of life.Inch Like their prior albums Post-Nothing and Celebration Rock, the album features eight songs. This is because eight songs is the standard template for a great rock n roll album. Like Post-Nothing and Celebration Rock, the album was sequenced specifically for the LP. On Near To The Wild Heart Of Life, side A (songs 1-4) and side B (songs 5-7) each follow their own loose narrative. Taken together as one, they form an even looser narrative, with the final song on side B (song 8) acting as an epilogue. If Celebration Rock was the culmination of something, then Near To The Wild Heart Of Life can be considered the beginning of something else.

The Cast is Mairi Campbell on viola, vocals & fiddle & Dave Francis on guitar & vocals - they present a fresh & impressive sound, with warm, wonderfully assured singing; feat. guest bassist Brian Shiels - album includes their hit InchAuld Lang SyneInch

2016 , the third album from the eclectic electronic duo. Two Vines was recorded in Hawaii and Los Angeles, and it was co-produced by Empire of the Sun and Peter Mayes (Sia, the Killers, Mika). It features contributions from Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham, Wendy Melvoin (from Prince's band the Revolution), and pianist Henry Hey and bassist Tim Lefebvre, both members of David Bowie's Blackstar band. Nick Littlemore InchThere was an image we talked about very early on with this record, before we wrote the title track, 'Two Vines,' and that was this image of a modern city overtaken by jungle, almost like mother nature taking back the planet. All the buildings will turn back to sand. All it will be is nature again. We wanted to make something that reflected the beauty of that, and the wisdom that plants can give us about living harmoniously on this beautiful planet.Inch
