Charley Patton - Rough Guide To Charley Patton Father Of The Delta Blues - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Charley Patton is considered to be one of the foremost influential bluesmen of the pre war period. The influence that he had on the generations of blues lovers to come is astronomical. Vol 1 kicks of with some of his most well loved songs, including Mississippi Boweavil Blues and Spoonful Blues; later covered by Cream. The slide performance in these two songs is stellar.

2015 . Tom Dyer is a Pacific Northwest fellow-a rather noisy one. For his ninth in the last six years, he embraces the NW canon of his youth-works by The Sonics, The Wailers, Paul Revere & The Raiders, The Ventures, The Fleetwoods, The Kingsmen, Merrilee Rush & The Turnabouts, as well as many lesser known gems from the 1959-68 period, when Northwest bands could deliver radio hits on the teen beacon of Seattle's KJR. To execute this difficult task, a raucous band of Green Monkey all-stars was assembled with members of King County Queens and the Green Pajamas. Producer Steve Fisk was brought in to track the unholy racket.

Charley Patton is considered to be one of the foremost influential bluesmen of the pre war period. The influence that he had on the generations of blues lovers to come is astronomical. Some of the standout pieces on the second volume of his collected works are Green River Blues, Farrell Blues (a song in tribute to his hometown), and Come Back Corrina; with a vocal performance by Henry Sims.
