Chatham County Line - Sight and Sound - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

On a recent summer evening in downtown Raleigh, NC, Chatham County Line set up shop at a stately theater filled with hundreds of their most devoted fans and captured for the ages what they do best gathering around a single microphone to play and sing their own songs.

This reissue of self-titled breakout debut from Raleigh, NC's Chatham County Line marks the formation of one of acoustic music's strongest torch bearers. CHATHAM COUNTY LINE is a document of the band in it's original line-up and in the first stage of it's significant album to album evolution, culminating in it's most recent album IV. This first album finds the band in a more straightforward bluegrass mood, showcasing their stunning instrumentalism and the sharpening of their renowned harmonies. The album sees the quartet honing their craft on the traditional bluegrass instruments - mandolin, fiddle, banjo and acoustic guitar and one mic live performance style that has become their trademark.

With IV, Chatham County Line have become who they are. Visible throughout the band's career, their constant evolution steps to the forefront of the creative process on IV. Here, songwriting is paramount, yet the band's instrumental talents and gorgeous harmonies still rise to the surface. CCL's traditional instrumentation provides a fitting foil to their dedication to innovative approaches to old time music. On this their fourth studio album, Chatham Country Line takes their rightful place among the new guard of indie-roots music and perhaps pen their masterpiece in the process.
