About this product
Past Cloaks is the first on POW Recordings, an introduction to one of the most gifted teenaged rappers this side of Earl, Nas, or Andre. These are the first experiments and random blades from the Monotone Samurai, the leader of Nu Age, lungs black as his irises, tangents to open up the ears of the ancient. These are the results of a young searcher wrestling with the present and future. An adolescent gypsy skating through St. Louis, Georgia, and Florida, blessed with a wild imagination, precocity, and a dark temperament. He re-imagines himself as a cursed black Pharaoh covered in golden scarabs, an enigma with wings, spitting raps as hot as Guatemalan springs. A new anti-hero with venom, the beast hallucinated on ayahuasca or just too much liquor. As Watson says himself, Inchthe best villain since Mad-V.Inch

Vinyl LP pressing. British band Empyre bring their distinctive brand of dark rock to a wider audience. The band blend their huge riffs with deeply personal lyrics, brought to life by the impassioned vocals of frontman Henrik Steenholdt. Bursting straight out of the gates with the title track Relentless, the catchy new single has Steenholdt using his emotive lyrics to comment on the 'survival of the fittest' attitude in today's world. Backed by an intense instrumental, the song oozes Empyre's trademark atmospheric attack, sometimes warm and enveloping, but with a hint of seething and contempt. Fans of Porcupine Tree, Haken, Green Carnation and even Muse will find much to love in Empyre's brand of atmospheric rock, the dark and introspective edge topped with Steenholdt's richly recognisable vocal. Relentless as an album ranges from Inchtriumphant, chest beating rockInch (BBC introducing) to introspective, emotive cuts showing the band's breadth and proficiency in embracing light and shade.
