Chet Baker started out on top in the 1950s gigging with Charlie Parker, joining the Gerry Mulligan Quartet and soon becoming one of the most popular trumpeters in jazz. The late 50s and early 60s found Baker at the nadir of his career and suddenly he was out of music. Against all odds he made a comeback in the mid-70s. This album was a revelation at the time and won Baker new fame and a new audience, which was less familiar with jazz than with pop music. This album was initially issued in 1954 as a 10-inch Long Play containing eight songs. It's success soon led to it being reissued as a 12Inch LP, with the addition of material from later 1956 sessions.
