About this product

Chime School is the project of San Francisco musician Andy Pastalaniec. Endlessly charmed by 80s indie and it's 60s forbearers (and any record with a 12-string guitar), Andy cut his teeth as a drummer with SLR labelmate Odd Hope in their early group Pink Films; later with shoegazers Cruel Summer, and currently with indiepop outfit Seablite. But it wasn't until he was gifted a cassette 4-track portastudio Inchalmost as a dare,Inch that he came out from behind the kit to write and record his own material.Aptly named for it's autodidact roots, Chime School pays homage to the formative jangle of The Byrds by way of early Primal Scream and The Springfields; the production and pop sensibility of the Biff Bang Pow and The Razorcuts; and the spirit of great singles labels like Creation, Postcard and Sarah. From the dreamy album opener InchWait Your TurnInch to the driving jangle of InchDead SaturdaysInch and the rich, epic InchGone Too FastInch we can see that we're in the presence of a very talented writer indeed, someone with a lifetime's worth of pop fandom just waiting to burst out in song.1. Stafraenn Hakon - Eternal Horse - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2015 . On Eternal Horse, Stafrænn Hákon move away from the DIY experimental drony ambient and the lo-fi indie-rock sounds of their last albums, Prammi and Kælir Varðhund, and revisit the sound-spectrum of their previous Darla album, Sanitas (2010). Eternal Horse contains nine pop-oriented and vocally driven melodies. The album builds on certain elements heard on Gummi (2007) and Sanitas (2010), filled with soft and floating guitars mixed with heavier guitar sounds, layers of acoustic instruments and vocals. Vocals and lyrics on the album are in the hands of Magnús Freyr Gíslason and At The Close Of Everyday frontman, Minco Eggersman, who again collaborates with the band, providing his deep and soothing vocals to three songs on the album.Eternal Horse is the first Stafrænn Hákon album featuring the whole band collaborating on the songs in their studio, making the compositions more organic and fuller. Longtime and now previous member of the band, Samuel White contributes two songs. Recorded at Vogor Studios between 2011-2015. All songs by Stafrænn Hákon. Mixed by Daniel Lovegrove. Mastered by Finnur Hákonarson. Produced by Ólafur Josephsson and Daniel Lovegrove.

Chime School - The Boy Who Ran The Paisley Hotel - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Guided by San Francisco musician Andy Pastalaniec, Chime School pays homage to the formative jangle of The Byrds by way of early Primal Scream and The Springfields; the production and pop sensibility of Biff Bang Pow! And The Razorcuts; and the spirit of great singles labels like Creation, Postcard and Sarah. Although it would have fit with any of those labels, Chime School found a natural home with Bay Area indie stalwart Slumberland Records, releasing a self-titled debut in 2021, and a follow-up 7Inch single in 2023, to broad acclaim. The anticipated follow-up LP InchThe Boy Who Ran The Paisley HotelInch is as stellar as we could have hoped for - deeper, richer and evolved in every way. While still joyfully packed with janglepop gems, InchPaisley HotelInch takes a turn toward the winsome melancholy of groups like East Village, The Go-Betweens, and The Loft, and represents a leap forward in production, composition and arrangement. InchThe first record was a bit manic. I was trying to stuff so many years of influences into thirty brisk minutes. With 'Paisley Hotel' I chose a more condensed palette, and I feel I'm getting closer to the sonic vision I had from the beginning.Inch

Chime School - Coming To Your Town - 7-INCH SINGLE [7 inch Vinyl Disc]

Following up their *very* well-received 2021 self-titled debut album, Chime School are back with more perfect pop, this time on the most pop of formats, the 7Inch single. InchComing To Your TownInch was recorded while sick with COVID and rather fittingly is a feverish attempt to describe the reactionary political moment that seemed to infect the Bay Area during the pandemic. Leave it to Chime School to pen a classic 12-string jangle pop tune about the breakdown of civil society. It's not all cats and motorbikes chez Chime School! On the flip side we have the band's lovely Brighter/Field Mice-esque take of Buzzcocks' InchLove You More.Inch Originally released on the Oakland Weekender Buzzcocks covers cassette, it's available on vinyl here for the first time.A1.
