About this product
Double vinyl LP pressing. While This Is for the White in Your Eyes racked up overwhelmingly positive press, it can practically be seen as a soft launch for Choir of Young Believers' masterful 2012 album Rhine Gold. Now a proper band, the collaborative dynamic has imbued their sound with more authority and daring, inhabiting a wholly unique space where intimate Folk, classic Krautrock, big-sky Americana, avant-garde composition and bombastic theatricality seamlessly serve the same master. Like Choir's music, Jannis Noya Makrigiannis' powerful voice unifies the ambitious scope of Rhine Gold by sounding at once dolorous and magisterial.

2021 . You may know Rodrigo Amarante already. You may have heard InchTuyo,Inch his theme tune to the Netflix drama Narcos, or the Little Joy album, recorded with Fab Moretti and Binki Shapiro, you might have noted his name among the credits on songs by Gal Costa, Norah Jones and Gilberto Gil; or perhaps you saw him play live with Brazilian samba big band Orquestra Imperial, or with Rio rockers Los Hermanos; you really should have heard his debut album, Cavalo, released in 2014. You may think you know Rodrigo Amarante already, but Drama, his second solo album, is going to introduce a whole new level of confusion to the mix.
Welcome to Leather Blvd A Black utopia conceived by B. Cool-Aid-the duo of vocalist Pink Siifu and producer Ahwlee (pronounced InchAliInch)-populated by an ensemble cast of characters and collaborators, including Ladybug Mecca (of Digable Planets), Big Rube (Dungeon Family), Fousheé, Mndsgn, Quelle Chris, Denmark Vassey, LIV.e and many more.Picture Black co-op-owned beauty shops, barbershops, health food stores, weed spots, churches, mosques, nightclubs, bookstores, botanicas, bars, restaurants, street vendors, etc.-all of the signs of healthy community and commerce-on either side of a wide and impossibly long street. Now picture people of every size and shape and shade of brown hustling and bustling up and down the street, just living their lives. Imagine a fantastic version of Harlem's 125th Street or Bed Stuy's Fulton Street, or L.A.'s Leimert Park. There is such a place, even if it's not technically real.Mixed by ZerohMastered by Ben KanePhotography & Art Direction by Jack McKain
