About this product

The uber-hip environ that is today's Lower East Side couldn't be further from the stomping grounds of legendary squatting vagrant punkers, Choking Victim, whose personnel included future members of ska/punk legends No Commercial Value, and the infamous Leftover Crack. The band was formed and rehearsed in what was known as C-Squat, in the now fashionable Alphabet City neighborhood. This explosive and abrasive group expressed transient and drug addled lifestyles through it's surprisingly satirical take on the Rocksteady style, which they dubbed 'Crackrock Steady'. Breaking up only a day after recording their full length, this band spawned many viable offshoots, and inspired countless others. The album that was salvaged from the wreckage of their sole recording endeavor is a testament to the raw talent of it's members.

Future Death - Special Victim - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

From swirling, tumultuous outbursts to pummeling destruction, the controlled chaos that is Future Death is ready to be unleashed in 2014. Stripping everything to the bone, the band's creative process is heavily linked to impulse as they capture their feelings organically and in the moment while leaving little room for conceptualization. The Austin based band formed in 2012 as Alton Jenkins and Bill Kenny began writing and recording what later evolved into their debut EP, which was self-released in the summer of 2013. They added bassist Jeremy Humphries to the lineup and vocalist Angie Kang found them later after months of writing. Special Victim, their forthcoming debut full-length on Bloodmoss Records, was recorded and mixed by This Will Destroy You's Alex Bhore in a funeral-home-turned-studio owned by producer John Congleton. With the creative tools at hand, Future Death took a bright, explosive approach on Special Victim. Like the band's overall creative process, the concept of impulse is apparent throughout album itself. There's not much time to breathe, and that's exactly why it is such a thrilling and powerful listen.

Hissing - Permanent Destitution - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2018 . Seattle, Washington's Hissing engage in dark, dissonant, cacophonous, inverted death metal noise and with their debut album, Permanent Destitution, the three-piece have created a nihilistic vision of deranged otherworldly audial pandemonium. A soundscape of pure enveloping darkness and unrelenting chaos, it deconstructs and builds itself through walls and layers of pummeling turmoil and disarray generated through twisted, angular guitar work and fretboard annihilation, surgically cold and calculated death march drums and monolithic bass, all with a dark overbearing ambience. The added touch of droning noise segments, also crucial to the band's sound, mixed with the doomy industrial components, become that final element to make this a towering monument of primal avant-deathnoise. Formed in 2014, Hissing had already made quite the reputation as a force to be reckoned with on the West Coast through various live appearances (which included a major US tour with Sunn 0))), impressions made with their 2015 demo, and most notably with their 2016 self-titled 7-inch EP released by Southern Lord along with last year's massive split with Sutekh Hexen (Flenser).
