After nearly a decade's worth of DIY touring and writing/recording with various bands (including his collaboration with Jeff Rosenstock, Antarctigo Vespucci), Florida native Chris Farren decided to shift his focus and began writing songs under his own name. His debut solo album released in 2016, Can't Die, showcased Farren's strengths as a pop songwriter and pushed him to relocate to Los Angeles. He took his new material out on the road alone, performing solo with backing tracks and added visuals, while simultaneously developing a newfound sense of humor when it came to promoting himself online. With his sophomore album and Polyvinyl debut, Born Hot, Farren takes it a step further. Songs like InchSearch 4 MeInch and InchLove Theme from 'Born Hot'Inch are proof that Farren knows what it takes to write a hook, while songs like InchR U Still There?Inch and InchFloruit de MagaInch showcase his strengths as a lyricist, telling stories of loss, grief, insecurity, and loneliness. And as far as the new promotional concepts... let's just say they're as hot as ever! Album Tracks 1. Bizzy 2. Love Theme from InchBorn HotInch 3. Search 4 Me 4. Too Dark 5. Domain Lapse 6. Does the Good Outweigh the Bad? 1. I Was Amazing 2. R U Still There? 3. Surrender 4. Space in Yr Love 5. Floruit de Maga 6. Credits
Chris Cohen's songs initially sound easy. They're each tiny jewels that unfurl at a leisurely pace, but dig a little deeper and you'll reach a melancholy core. His previous two albums - 2012's Overgrown Path, and 2016's As If Apart - were built from rich, blurry tracks that embedded themselves in your subconscious, like they'd always been there. Chris Cohen, his third solo album, is a thoughtful, accomplished meditation on life and family, backed by dusky instrumentation influenced by the late evening beauty of Pat Metheny's Falcon and the Snowman soundtrack, and Thomas Dolby's Golden Age of Wireless. It's beautiful, but it's also unflinching in it's depiction of emotional turmoil. Mastered by Bernie Grundman and written and recorded in his Lincoln Heights studio and at Tropico Beauties in Glendale, California over the course of the last two years with the help of Katy Davidson (Dear Nora), Luke Csehak (Happy Jawbone Family Band), Zach Phillips, and saxophonist Kasey Knudsen, it is his most straightforward album yet, but it is also the conclusion of an unofficial cycle that began with Overgrown Path. Album Tracks 1. Song They Play 2. Edit Out 3. Green Eyes 4. Sweet William 5. House Carpenter 6. Twice in a Lifetime 7. What Can I Do 8. The Link 9. Heavy Weather Sailing 10. No Time to Say Goodbye
Album Tracks 1. Gentlemen's Breakfast 2. Inspiration 3. Emperor Strikes Back 4. You Don't Know What Love Is (Give Me Your Love) 5. Broken Glass 6. Thumper
