Christian McBride - The Movement Revisited - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Bringin' It, the highly anticipated which follows the Christian McBride Big Band's 2011 GRAMMY® Award-winning debut, The Good Feeling, puts his status and skills as an all-around entertainer on full display. If it is true that jazz is a sponge for musicians to absorb and then squeeze out what they hear to produce their own sound, McBride has been Inchbringin' itInch for quite a long time. From his amazing quintet, Inside Straight; to his avant-garde leaning quartet, New Jawn; the contemporary sound of his fusion group, A Christian McBride Situation; to the critically acclaimed music he's made with his trio, the bassist has always disseminated his own unique 360-degree view of jazz.

Christian McBride is a loquacious raconteur in addition to his finger-busting bass skills, though make no mistake about it the only talk on this is the musical kind two instruments make. Christian can converse with the best of them, as his Sirius/XM show will attest though these conversations sit him down in the studio with a diverse array of guests for unexpected and often amazing results. The resulting duets lay bare skill and emotion in the visceral tradition of real jazz improvisation. Angelique Kidjo, George Duke, Sting, Eddie Palmieri, Chick Corea and Roy Hargrove - along with the late masters Hank Jones and Dr. Billy Taylor - are among the guests.

The hardest-working man in showbiz, three time Grammy.-award winner Christian McBride brings back another installment of his acoustic jazz group, Inside Straight. This sojourn is augmented by a couple youngsters on the rise Ulyssess Owens, Jr.. and Christian Sands, whom play on two tracks the remainder handled with the usual aplomb by Messrs. Steve Wilson, Warren Wolf, Peter Martin and Carl Allen.
