Set during the time of the Second Sino-Japanese War, Caterpillar tells the story of a Japanese soldier who returns home horrifically mutilated. Liutenant Kurokawa is literally nothing but a human torso he has lost both his arms and legs, and with burns covering half his face, he is also unable to speak. His wife, Shigeko (Shinobu Terajima), is given the grueling task of looking after him, which, in addition to feeding and washing him, includes the job of satisfying his sexual desires - impulses that remain as strong as ever in spite of his disabled condition. Taught to be dutiful and to do her part for her country, Shigeko bears her burden - but as she realizes that her husband's life lies entirely in her hands, she begins to question the role she has accepted. A film that won Shinobu Terajima the Silver Bear award for Best Actress at the 2010 Berlin Film Festival, Caterpillar is at heart a powerful indictment of Japan's militaristic, nationalistic past. From acclaimed director Koji Wakamatsu (United Red Army).

1883, Baycliff, an isolated English village on the Irish Sea. Two women's friendship becomes passion. Cynara, a sculptor, alone, befriends Byron, a visitor who's left Paris in unhappiness. They ride horses, talk, play chess, and exchanging tenderness. Byron inspires Cynara as she sculpts, Cynara becomes Byron's muse as she writes. Then each imagines expressing physical passion to the other, Cynara's visions in black and white, Byron's in color. Their touches remain brief. Does respectability hold them back? What might pull down any last barriers to their expressions of love?

Industrialist Cornelis van Doorn (Kees Brusse) got so filthy rich because he wasted nothing... as demonstrated by how he turned the animal hormone waste from his slaughterhouses into a side business of birth control pills. The time came, though, when he had to choose a successor from amongst his kids, legitimate or otherwise-and the only competent candidate (Rudolf Lucieer) was cursed with ethics. Sexy satire co-stars Andrea Domburg, Hugo Metsers, Sonja Barend. 107 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack Dutch; Subtitles English; audio commentary; bonus short InchFestival of LoveInch (1969); image gallery; theatrical trailers. In Dutch with English subtitles.
