Clifford Brown - The Singers Sessions With Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughan and Helen Me [COMPACT DISCS] Rmst date 10/22/2012

Propelled by his 1956 Lee Hazlewood-produced hit InchThe Fool,Inch Sanford Clark was already a rockabilly legend in his own right by the time he swapped his hair gel and switchblade for a pair of cowboy boots on They Call Me Country. Recorded between 1965-67 and originally released as a series of singles for Phoenix's Ramco tag, the 12 tracks on this LP borrow Bakersfield's outlaw sound and ignore Nashville's countrypolitan flair, standing as a true lost masterpiece of country music's third generation. Clark's booming baritone tells tales of bar fights, heartaches, and drinking til you can't stand, while Waylon Jennings provides a backdrop of fuzzed out guitar twang. Mastered from the original session tapes and back on vinyl for the first time since the Nixon administration.

Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. One of the most lauded (and brilliant) trumpet players in the history of jazz, Clifford Brown adds to his luster on this varied program of nine engaging tunes. Featuring the 1955 version of the Clifford Brown/Max Roach Quintet, a group also including tenor saxophonist Harold Land, pianist Richie Powell, and bassist George Morrow. One of the premiere early hard bop units.

Japanese pressing features the high-fidelity UHQCD . Green tag coating. *UHQCD (Ultimate High Quality CD) is an upgraded version of HQCD, a high fidelity CD developed by Memory-Tech.
