About this product
High Roller Records, transparent purple vinyl, ltd 300, insert, download code, 425gsm heavy cardboard cover, Midlands outfit Cloven Hoof must rate as one of the most legendary bands of the entire New Wave Of British Heavy Metal movement. The origins of the group go back to the year 1979, when they first formed under the name of Nightstalker. In 1981, however, the band switched to their new moniker Cloven Hoof. Original vocalist David Potter, guitarist Steve Rounds, drummer Kevin Poutney and main man Lee Payne on bass adopted the stage characters of 'Earth', 'Fire', 'Water' and 'Air'. After recording demo versions of songs such as InchReturn Of The PassoverInch and InchNightstalkerInch, Cloven Hoof issued their debut vinyl 12Inch EP »The Opening Ritual« on Elemental Music in 1982. In 1984, the self-titled Cloven Hoof album was released, followed by »Fighting Back« (1986), »Dominator« (1988) and »A Sultan's Ransom« (1989). After splitting up in the 1990s, Cloven Hoof returned with a new line-up and a new record called »Eye Of The Sun« in 2006. In 2014, »Resist Or Serve« was recorded, followed by »Who Mourns For The Morning Star« (2017), both on High Roller Records. The album was a bit of a game changer for the band, as they were able to tour with it in North America for the first time in their career. Since then, Cloven Hoof have issued two more studio albums, »Age Of Steel« on Pure Steel Records in 2020 and »Time Assassins« on FM Revolver two years later. With songs like InchDo What Thou WiltInch, InchSabbat StonesInch and InchThe SummoningInch their brand new album »Heathen Cross« marks the return to High Roller Records. InchWe are back now where we belong,Inch smirks Lee Payne. Inch»Heathen Cross« is Cloven Hoof's most dark and heavy album yet! It has the Satanic undertones of our debut album, but with the best vocalist the group has ever had. Personally speaking it

Time Assassin is the brand new album from Cloven Hoof. Following on from the success of the InchDominatorInch album, InchTime AssassinInch heralds mankind's saviour in the form of a genetic super soldier bred to be a trained ninja assassin. He is chosen to go back in time and destroy the dominator before birth, thus ending the time stream forever. The consequence of this was the Dark Lord would never have existed so his reign of terror is destroyed once and for all. It also asks the question Would anyone sacrifice their lives to be an unsung hero? The time assassin had the knowledge that everything he knew would cease to be if he was successful in his mission and he would save the galaxy from eternal suffering and slavery but no one would ever know. His mission of course is a success and his sense of honour and duty prevails. But put into the same situation, who would be so brave and self sacrificing?
It was quite a coup when Cloven Hoof mastermind and bassist Lee Payne announced that Harry 'The Tyrant' Conklin, who had relocated to Greece, would be joining the band. The former Jag Panzer frontman proved to be the perfect replacement for Russ North, who many fans regarded as the definitive Cloven Hoof vocalist. Sadly, Russ is no longer with us.As a result, expectations were high, and the reaction to the band's first album featuring Harry Conklin on vocals was overwhelmingly positive. Heathen Cross was released by High Roller Records in 2024 and was met with widespread acclaim. Now Cloven Hoof returns with it's tenth full-length studio album, Never A Prophet In Your Own Land. Once again, 'The Tyrant' delivers a world-class vocal performance.
