RTX 5090 + 9950X3D: Flagship Gaming Rig
This build is an absolute powerhouse. Prior to shipping, CLX reached out to confirm whether I was comfortable having the RTX 5090 ROG ASTRAL shipped separately instead of installed. Due to the sheer size and weight of the card, they wanted to avoid any potential damage to other components during transit. I appreciated the transparency and ultimately agreed to have the GPU shipped uninstalled. They did offer the option to ship it fully installed with additional protective packaging, but there was still some risk involved given the weight of the card. When everything arrived, it was a huge bonus that the RTX 5090 came in its original box. The aesthetics of this build are outstanding. The RGB implementation is clean and tasteful, and I am a big fan of the Panorama AIO paired with the ASUS ROG STRIX motherboard. The subtle, almost 8-bit–style ROG logo is a nice touch and fits the build well without being overbearing. The case itself is also a standout and really ties the entire system together. Performance-wise, this system delivers exactly what you would expect from a Ryzen 9 9950X3D and RTX 5090 combo. The build includes 96GB of DDR5 RAM running at 5600 MHz. While the capacity is impressive, I personally would have preferred higher memory speeds. That said, it has not held the system back in real-world use. All performance metrics mentioned are while running two ASUS ROG Swift 32-inch OLED displays. Even with this dual-monitor setup, I have had no issues running high-end games at max settings with well over 200–300 FPS, including ray tracing. Games such as Fortnite, ARC Raiders, and Red Dead Redemption 2 run flawlessly. This build feels genuinely future-proof for the next several years. If I were to nitpick or suggest changes, I would eventually upgrade the RAM to higher speeds and, if building it myself, I may have opted for a Crosshair motherboard instead. However, these are preferences rather than shortcomings. As mentioned previously, I love the 8-bit-like design of the ASUS ROG STRIX motherboard logo. One thing worth mentioning is the power supply. The system includes the 1000W MSI MAG A1000GL. While it may not be a flagship-tier PSU, it is reliable and more than capable of handling this configuration. Would I personally go with a higher-tier PSU if given the choice? Probably. But this unit has proven trustworthy and has not given me any concerns. Another bonus is how upgrade-friendly this build is. There is plenty of room to grow, and I can easily see myself making upgrades over time. With the continued advancements in AI and GPU-accelerated workloads, this system is well-equipped. While my primary use is high-end gaming at maxed-out settings, I do occasionally experiment with AI-related tasks, and this rig handles both without issue. For those who care about aesthetics, especially minimal branding, the CLX logo on the case can be easily removed using a heat gun or hair dryer and a plastic tool or credit card. It is a simple process and makes the case even cleaner if large logos are not your thing. Overall, I was extremely impressed with both the build quality and the customer service CLX provided. If I were to purchase another prebuilt system in the future, I would definitely lean toward CLX again. This is a beautiful, well-performing machine that delivers exactly what it promises.
