I purchased these because of the tremendous price, and not being able to afford the more expensive brand. I am a masters athlete, competing in track, and am ranked in the top five in the world. I train hard on a regular basis, and absolutely LOVE these compression boots. They help with recovery and help to alleviate soreness, so I’m ready to go the next day!

Great product! My moms legs were very swollen and after using this for an hour a day for two days, the swelling went down. I haven’t figured out the settings yet, but this is worth the money!

I've been using these Compex Ayre Compression Boots for a few weeks now. I was hopeful but skeptical at first because I really wanted them to take away that post-workout leg soreness, but I know there are a lot of gimmicky products out there for stuff like this. Bottom line: these aren't a gimmick. They noticeably reduced the soreness and stiffness I would typically feel after jogging or biking and I'm so glad I gave them a try! I'm a recreational athlete and they're great for me but I can also see them being just as good or better for competitive athletes. These are one-size-fits-all. I'm a hair under 6' 0" with more leg than torso. The length of these boots fit me pretty well, although I would like the upper part (the part above the knee) to be a little higher up. I found that the knee opening was a tiny bit low and my thighs didn't get the same relief that my feet and calves got. The width of the calf section is extremely wide. I have skinny legs and my lower legs are swimming in these boots when I first put them on. It doesn't matter though because they still squeeze tight enough when inflated to do the job properly. The boots are easy to get in and out of and seem to be made of very high quality materials. The lower portion is zip-up and the upper portion has a velcro closure. They should accommodate a wide variety of leg sizes, from skinny to thick. When the boots squeeze, they feel so good! It's like having your own physical therapy session after a workout. Sometimes I wake up with stiff ankles and these make them feel so much better on those days too; so they aren't just for after workouts. They charge quickly and I've never had the battery die before I was ready to take them off. I really like these compression boots and I think they're a solid investment to help recover faster and better from leg workouts.

The Compex compression boots are well made, the controllers are easy to charge and use. Their orientation is tword the inner or outer thigh based on which leg you put the boot on. The boots adjust to a variety of builds easily. The boots seem to have no indication what leg they should be put on but the controls are easier to reach if positioned toward the inner thigh. For testing I enlisted the help of my Brother a Triathlete, my sister a marathon runner and avid Spinner and myself an average athlete. The day of testing My brother and sister each ran a few miles and water skied. I did a brisk walk for a few miles. After each activity we each immediately tried the boots. Each of us experienced resolution of soreness and swelling. My brother commented that above the level of the boot he has some soreness on the thigh and would recommend wearing it as high as possible. The boots have two mode sequential activation of the chambers and activation of all chambers at once. They will keep cycling until you turn them off, we never had them turn off by themselves. This brings up the thing we all disliked about the units. The instructions are very sparse and there was no description of proper use either how long to wait before initiating treatment after exercise or length of time recommend for treatment or anything other than basic description of use. This in no way takes away from the quality and the great function of these devices. We all agreed that the boots relieved exercise induced soreness and swelling and allowed rapid recovery of function. I think the company should at least include a link to demonstrate proper use along with any tips for particular types of activities. I feel these devices are a good value for athletes. These will also be great after Snow Skiing and I intend to bring them on my next trip!

Requires no setup. Out of the box, it came charged & ready to go. It comes with a Quick Start Guide, but I would recommend downloading the manual from the Compex website in order to understand the settings options. Ease of use: Super easy & fast! Just slip them on like a normal boot, zip up the calf area, fasten the 3 velcro straps around the thigh area and press the start button. The default setting will begin inflating the foot area, followed by the lower calf chamber, then upper calf, then thigh area. It feels just like a blood pressure cuff. It will hold at the fully inflated point for 10 sec, then deflate for 1 min. and re-start the cycle. The Control Unit makes a quiet beeping noise between cycles & a low motorized sound while inflating. The controls are very simple. There are 2 options for inflating the chambers: one-by-one or all at once. You can also change the pressure of each chamber & it will remember your last setting. This is a great feature that allows you to target a problem area. I’ve been using it after long runs & after leg-day workouts. I have one calf that’s giving me trouble, so I’ve increased the pressure in that chamber to isolate the problem area. I’ve been using it for 30-min. intervals post-workout and definitely feel a difference in recovery time. It’s most noticeable the next day when I would normally be more fatigued & sore. Besides the physical improvement, I use that time to mentally relax as well. If it included a massage feature, I’d give it 5 stars.

About the Ayre Wireless Rapid-Recovery Compression Boots The Compex Ayre compression boots are devices that wrap around your feet, calves, and quads and use compression to promote circulation in your legs. By increasing the circulation, the boots are intended to promote healing and help with minor aches and pains. They are equipped with batteries so that you can take them with you and use them most anywhere. Target Audience The rapid-recovery compression boots are intended to be used by people who are athletic and need post-workout treatment and also for individuals who have poor circulation. It’s recommended to consult with a doctor before using these, as it could be harmful for those with certain medical conditions. Why I Used It I’m a male in my 40’s who was previously very athletic. As I’ve gotten older my muscles don’t seem to stay loose like they used to, so when I do much of anything the soreness and aching is awful. I am to the point that I have to change my shoes 2-3 times a day because of cramping and tightness in my legs. I also don’t have the best circulation. A game of full-court basketball could cause days of pain. I’ve even tried massage therapy which helps some, but only for a day or so. My thinking was that I could use these as often as I wanted, and it would be much cheaper than massage therapy. What it Comes With There aren’t very many pieces to the Ayre compression boots. The setup comes with 2 compression boots, an AC charger, and a carry case. Each boot has a battery and control box attached to the thigh. The charger has a splitter built into the cord so it charges both boots at the same time. Instructions were very minimal and referenced a manual on their website. That online manual was also pretty minimal. The Fit These compression boots are a one-size fits all deal, which means that they will fit everyone differently. To put them on you have to open the 3 velcro straps at the quad/thigh area and unzip the shin portion. You place your feet into the bottom (so you cannot wear shoes), zip up the shin, and wrap the straps around the upper thighs. The top portion and shin have a separation at the knee so that the boots are more comfortable when the leg is bent in the seated position. I recommend that you put these on close to where you will sit down for treatment. The top portion moves quite a bit while standing and it’s kind of awkward to walk. For reference, I am 6’-1” and just under 180 lbs. The top portion was a little loose, and I felt that the boots could have been a little longer. Since these are one-size fits all, Compex has limited how long the quad/thigh portion is. How it Feels Using the Boots The best way that I describe these is that it feels like you are wearing four blood pressure cuffs. It’s more of a squeezing feeling than a massage. There are four areas that have compression: foot, lower calf, upper calf, and quad. The boots operate in sequence starting at the bottom and moving to the top. The feet tighten and hold, then the lower calf, then the next two sections. After a few seconds all of the compression releases at the same time. Then it repeats. You can use them in a seated with bent knee position or with your leg straight out. I think that the bent knee position is more comfortable. I wouldn’t recommend walking with them on while in use. Seems like you would break the foot compression if you did that, not to mention you’d be walking like a mummy. Adjustments There’s not very many settings for these. The “cuffs” always activate in the same sequence and it’s just a squeezing motion. The one thing that can be changed is how hard the compression squeezes. There’s several stages that you can use. The setting I used the most was 50. Battery The batteries have a one hour life claim on the packaging. I found that my boots last a little longer than that. There is a battery indicator on the control box, so you can see where your charge stands. Sound These boots are not exactly quiet. It’s four compression cuffs running in sequence and then a release. I could watch TV, but I could definitely hear each stage happen. My Results I found that these actually worked surprisingly well. It’s one of those products that you don’t think it works, but then you use it and are surprised. I have been having significant muscle pain in my legs, and noticed a difference after the first time. I used them two consecutive nights, and my legs were better each morning after. The third night I didn’t use the boots, and my legs were back to aching. I have tried them on and off several times, and can tell when I use them vs. when I don’t. It makes a noticeable difference. The other thing that I noticed was that it appeared to promote healing. I had some mosquito bites on my legs that wouldn’t go away. When I started using the boots, they started looking better. My guess is that the circulation in my legs was better, and it was able to help my body heal those places. Other Potential Uses Aside from the way that I have used these so far, I could see the compression boots being used in a few other ways. These are perfect for athletes after a game. I could picture a team on the bus with everyone using these to get treatment before they ever returned home. This could make a difference for teams with active schedules. Also, those with certain medical conditions could use these for travel and help keep them on their regiment. Just pack up the case and take them with you. I’m giving the Ayre Wireless Rapid-Recovery Compression Boots by Compex 4 stars. First and foremost, they worked for me. The battery life was good, and it has a case to store the boots in while not in use. A few things that could improve these would be a quieter compression “cuff”, better instructions, and more sizing options. Overall, I find these helpful for my health.

Great for almost anyone to use, worth the money and customer service is good.

I am an avid runner, ran couple marathons, several half marathons, and 15k races. I use Theragun percussion massage gun, TENS units, handheld massagers, powered roller foams, etc. as my post workout recovery devices. I have seen my friends using NormaTec leg compression boots and I tried it once and fell in love with compression boots, but the high price tag made me think twice. The Compex AYRE changed my perspective that you can get the same experience at a lower price tag that is truly portable and comes without the extra cords. I love the fact that I can wear it for an hour, with one full charge, and let it do its work while lying on my couch after my exhaustive runs. The device settings are pretty simple, just power ON and chose between 2 mode settings. It also lets you change the compression pressures individually in each of the four chambers in the F2 mode, which I found helpful as I prefer higher compression settings in the lower chambers. I tried this unit for 3 weeks and amazed on how fast I recover from the lactic acid build up in my leg muscles after my endurance runs and am ready for my next day run without muscle soreness. Can't comment on its durability yet, as I had it for 3 week so far and used it about 10 times so far and am in love with it. It comes with a two year warranty. It's made of high quality material and I simply used Clorox wipes to wipe off the sweat in the inside compression chambers to prevent odor buildup. Love the carrying case and it now goes with me anytime I travel for races - super portable and love the fact that it doesn't come with cords. I would definitely recommend this for athletes looking for high quality compression boots at an affordable price tag, from a well know brand among sports personnel!

More than 20 years I was working as Taekwodo instructor. An unfortunate accident during a demonstration resulted in a torn ACL which required 2 surgeries to repair. Ever since that time I’ve been fighting constant pain in my leg that I can’t seem to get relief for. I’ve tried every type of physical therapy possible, attempted various exercises, tried different types of medicinal therapies, went through several rounds of injections into the knee, and even had another surgery recently to try to alleviate the discomfort I feel every single day. Nothing ever seems to really help except for compression. My fiancé tries to help by massaging the muscles in the leg, but she can only do so much. I’ve been to various masseuses and right after the massage, I have temporary relief. So, when I saw the information on these compression boots, I thought it would be worth a try since compression therapy has proven to help those recovering from ACL injuries. There are a couple of things I want to point out right off the bat. First, the boots can be used independently from each other, which was a big plus for me. Even though both of my legs exhibit some throbbing sensations, the injured leg is my left one. So, it was a big help to me to be able to use just one boot at a time, or be able to use both depending on how my legs were feeling. Second, these boots are wireless! This is a big deal to me because other compression devices I’ve used tend to have multiple wires and tubes leading to it and trying to get all of those hooked up is quite miserable when you are already in pain. The boot slides on and is adjustable so it can work for different sizes quite easily. To say I was skeptical when I first tried the boots out is an understatement. I’ve just had so many products let me down — especially ones that ‘claim’ to compress. Those products just never seem to provide enough pressure for me to find relief. These boots provide powerful compression and in fact, I haven’t had them turned up full power yet, which is something I typically have to do in order to get any relief from compression devices. The Ayre boots are beneficial to me because they can provide compression for the entire leg at one time. That’s something that’s been hard to come by for me. The boots store very easily. They come with a storage case and when deflated, they fold up nice and neat into that box. There is enough space for the charging cable and manual, too. I have found the boots very easy to use, but I do wish there was a deflate button on the control panel. There has been more than one occasion that I’ve needed to stop a session midway and when you turn the boots off, then don’t automatically deflate. It would be nice to be able to press ‘stop’ and then ‘deflate’ to return the boots to a flattened state. Even though these boots are designed to help athletes recover from workouts, they have done a great job reliving me of pain that has been plaguing me for years.

I am a member of Best Buy’s Technical Insider Network, TIN for short. Reviewers in this invitation-only program are provided products for the purpose of writing honest, unbiased reviews. I need to start this review by stating that I am not offering any medical advice. I am only relaying my experiences with the Compex Ayre Wireless Rapid-Recover Compression Boots. Compex markets these boots to coaches, therapist, athletes of all levels, and to a lesser extent, to people with medical issues that may require external assistance moving fluids trapped in the legs. My needs are medical. I got this device for a member of my family who normally wears compressions sleeves on her arms, legs, and hands to help stabilize her body’s inability to quickly adapt to changes in atmospheric pressure. She also asks me to squeeze her feet and hands during these episodes. The symptoms she is fighting are pain in her extremities and an inability to self regulate changes to pressure. Her symptoms can be debilitating. The symptoms are also predictable. I can tell you when her symptoms will flair just by watching the weather report. The compression sleeves squeeze her legs and arms and offer enough relief that she can achieve some measure of normalcy. She had high hopes for the compression boots. She felt that this was the product that she's been waiting for. I charged up the boots, downloaded the manual, and she gave them a try. Her quote, not mine: “A few minutes using these boots is equal to an hour wearing my compression sleeves. I love this!” She has used these boots every other day for the last two weeks and loves the results. She gives these boots a five-star rating. Setup and Use: Setup is easy. The lower boot surrounds the foot and is open to the top of the ankle. The foot slides into the bootie. The lower boot is secured by a zipper that zips up to the knee. The thigh is secured by three Velcro straps. The control box faces outwards. There is a separate power button on each control box. You can put these boots on from a standing position standing, sitting in a chair, or sitting on the ground. For me, the best way to put the boots on is standing. I slide my foot into the bootie, secure the Velcro straps around my thigh, and then zip the bootie up to my knee. The unit powers to the default F1 mode including my last pressure setting. F1 mode fills the four air bladders (C1, C2, C3, C4) in each boot one at a time in sequential order. The default pressure is 50 mmHG, or 50 millimeters of mercury. You can program the device to fill each bladder from 00 mmHG to 120mmHG. Each control box needs to be programmed individually. The unit takes about 10 to 30 seconds to fully inflate. The target pressure is then held for 10 seconds. The boots will then deflate over the next 10 to 60 seconds from the target pressure to zero. The F1 mode inflates in the following order: 1) C1 is the bladder surrounding the foot. 2) C2 bladder surrounds the lower calf. 3) C3 bladder surrounds the upper calf. 4) C4 bladder surrounds the thigh. You can manually kick off the cycle as many times as you want up to the maximum runtime of one hour. My family found that two or three cycles were enough to get the benefits we were looking for. Mode F2 fills all the bladders at the same time. We used this mode a few times. Personally, we found F1 more to our liking. I think maintaining the pressure on the feet for a longer period of time is really why F1 was a hit for my family. This is most likely important because squeeze her feet is an activity that alleviates her symptoms. So, it makes sense that this is her preferred mode. What about “these are wireless”? These boots do not have an accompanying mobile application. “Wireless” is referencing that each boot is self-contained and does not require direct connection to either power or a vacuum pump. Also, the control boxes do not communicate with each other. I found that, to keep the boots in sync, I had to operate the control box on each boot at the same time. There may be a reason for this. I would have liked to have seen an option, switch, or something that would allow me to operate both boots from the same control panel. This would allow both legs to inflate and deflate in tandem. I can achieve the same affect by pression the go button on both control boxes at the same time. Finally, these boots are open at the knees. This allows you to walk freely, sit on the floor, sit in a chair, and get yourself back to a standing position without much difficulty. Instructions: First off, these are super easy to operate. The operating instructions are three pages long. And there are two buttons on each control box to control the boots. There are no recommendations, examples of operation, no nothing to help you figure out what will work best for you. For example, my wife asked me if she could use these on the floor or if she must stand during operation. The instructions did not indicate an optimum position. Through experimentation, I found that standing does work but you sacrifice foot compression. If you sit on the ground with your legs straight out, then you get the full benefits of compression. However, you may want to sit up against a wall. After a while, your back will ache from the stress of holding the position. Second, there are several disclaimers on why you should not use these boots. These are listed on the external packaging under the heading: Contraindications. See photos. This is important information! Compex chose to use the smallest font they could reasonably print to list these out. I think these are rather important and should take more of a prominent position on the packaging. It is not like Compex ran out of white space on the packaging to post this information. As a business, why would you want to create a condition that could prompt a return? It makes no sense to me. And I think minimizing the information is unnecessary. Looks: Yes, these are super ugly! They look like someone over-engineered hip boots used for fly fishing. They will not win you any rewards at a fashion show. Get over it. Over-all impression: I think this is a great product. I have an athlete in my family and a person who has a medical condition. They both report positive result using these boots. I do not like the documentation as written. I also believe the reasons not to purchase this product is not only warranted but should be in larger font on the back of the packaging. This really is important for a product that acts like a medical device. The documentation, as written, is a cross between instructions, intended purpose and intended use, and language to satisfy an FDA regulator. Some of this is nit-picking. This product is having a positive impact on my family. There is room for improvement. But nothing that will prevent me from recommending this product for its intended use. I will come right out with it and say I hate training my legs. I am not genetically gifted when it comes to my ability to recovery from strenuous exercise and one of the last leg workouts I did before coming into possession of these compression boots rendered me unable to do much more than waddle around for about 4 or 5 days. While these boots are no miracle, they definitely in my subjective opinion help to speed up recovery and come at a level of quality and utility one would expect at this price point. As is obvious from the name in the title, these boots are wireless. Thus, you are not required to be tethered to any nearby outlet while wearing these. The charger comes with outlet prongs that are appropriate to all the major AC outlets in the world. The boots themselves seem to charge quickly when hooked up (one AC wall adapter plug Y’s into two cables for charging, saving on bulkyness). The boots themselves do seem to last for about an hour: I get through about a Netflix episode and a third with these before they have to be charged. Overall, I am very happy with these boots and can’t begin to describe how much relief they provide to sore, achy muscles and legs when putting these on. Just be sure if you have any medical conditions such as diagnosed DVTs, lower extremity edema, etc. to discuss the use of these boots with your provider first as you could be inadvertently putting yourself in harm’s way.

The Compex Ayre Wireless Rapid-Recovery in essence functions as a non-medical grade sequential compression device (SCD) which is often used in hospitals and therapy clinics. That said it functions as advertised which is expected of this type of product. However, pumps in these devices are often bulky and wired making compression boots/devices a chore to use. Not so much with the Compex Ayre. As the description says, these are wireless. Meaning that each boot has its own rechargeable pump in each boot. And as per manufacturer’s claim, each boot can last up to three hours of use prior to recharging. As someone who picked up biking as a hobby (due to Covid) and a type II diabetic, a pneumatic compression device (in this case a pair of boots) would definitely help relieve me from leg sores. Ang even though I mentioned these are not medical grade devices, these compression boots in an anecdotal sense also helps in relief for me as a diabetic. But definitely these help me reduce leg sores whenever I go biking. I haven’t biked much in the last several years so it’s natural that I am encountering leg sores. And lastly these devices don’t come in cheap. The other advantage of the Compex Ayre is being competitive in price. Given that it does deliver its promise regarding performance and being competitively priced, I would definitely recommend this for others.

I was first really skeptical about technology and it's use with sports medicine. I came from the old school of no pain no gain. I enjoy road bicycling and ride twice on the weekends for a good work out. After my rides I am pretty winded and soar. I decided to try these compression boots on after my ride and WOW. What a difference. My legs feel a lot lighter. I feel like the lactic acid was pushed out from my legs and circulation was boosted. Amazing. Like I said I was not a believer but now I am. Technology has come a long way. I have used these about 4 times and battery life is about 1/2. No power chords is a great feature and carrying and storage case is convenient. I would recommend this product.

I’m a military vet and avid runner and as I’ve gotten older, my recovery time has lengthened. These old legs require some work after a good run. Normally i used a compression gun, but now i sit in these boots for about 30 mins or so and I feel like I could go to basic training again....ok, maybe not, but i definitely notice a difference. My mother-in-law has issues with water retention in her legs, so i thought it would be a good idea to let her try them out and now she acts like she doesn’t want to give them back. She can sit in bed or in a chair with these boots on and according to her, she feels a significant difference and it helps with the swelling. I guess i know what to get her for Christmas. We have finally agreed to share the boots, so now all is well in my household again. I run in the mornings and use them after i shower, then its her turn. Cleaning them is as easy as wiping them down with mild soap and a damp cloth and i can store them in the container that came with them

These boots are just what my mom needed. She loved the way it comforted her tired achy legs. Her legs were tiny in them, but it compresses your legs much like how the compression is when you get your heart rate checked at the market in that self check high blood pressure machine. SO its really comforting by placing just enough pressure on them and then releases. There's an individual battery pack on each leg for charging. Charges in about an hour. I didn't dare tell her the price because she wouldn't have approved. But... These are REALLY PRICEY.

First problem off the bat is no real instructions. The company's website has instructions but the PDF refused to open on my phone. I had to take off the boots (tried the simple start but felt like no compression) and go to my computer. After getting the instructions I am a little confused why they didn't just include that with the product as it also is pretty short (14 pages, but the part you need would easily fit on the one page they included). As for the compression, I really felt it was a bit slow between cycles. Thus it felt as though you have to use the machine longer to get any real benefit. I assume this was part of the trade off to make the device wireless. The real kicker, I have been taking longer to heal from biking so had hoped to get my legs back up to par faster with this. After trying it for 30 minutes I can barely move. I only moved the settings barely from the default so not sure why this would make my pain worse instead of better. I don't have any of the medical conditions they warn against. The worse part is if I return it I have to pay a 15% restocking fee if Best Buy is willing to take it at all (They note in their return policy that wearables can't have been worn). So be cautious if thinking of buying this item as the reviews seem inflated and returning it, if possible, is going to be costly. Plus, as in my case, my pain is about 4x what it had been and today is supposed to be my exercise day. If I hadn't of bought this device while it was on sale I would have been able to exercise as normal as I have only been needing two days. As for the product itself, it looks great. Doesn't feel cheap. Plus comes fully charged.

Works great for circulation and mild soreness. Very relaxing and there is a large range of compression strength settings. Completely wireless in use and each side can be used separately they are not tied together in any way.

I'm a slim muscular build 5'7", 220 lbs, 11 size shoe. That being said, I still fit into these boots adequately. My only complaint is that the joint area around the ankle/top of the foot is a little snug and digs into my foot when it inflates. Its just a little annoying, but I've countered by putting some padding in there and it works out. The thigh area is velcro and adequate for my thigh circumference of 23". If your thigh is significantly larger, it prob won't fit as well. Aside from those small gripes the product performs well. Feels great. Due to the overall length of the boot it, may not accommodate ppl with longer limbs. I'd recommend these to friends maybe 6' and under and with similar thigh size.

Relieves swollen legs after walking/jogging. User friendly and comes with a bag. Excellent alternative for the normatec compression boots.
