Consortium5 - As Our Sweet Cords with Discords Mixed Be: English - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Bantock / Leaper / Czech State Philharmonic - Hebridean Symphony / Russian Scenes [COMPACT DISCS] date 12/17/1992

Double vinyl LP pressing. Songs for a Freaky Hollywood Hotel! Influenced by '50s/'60s cocktail culture, the exotica of Martin Denny and a passel of other mid-century thrift-store denizens, Combustible Edison's music already seemed like the lost soundtrack to some early-'60s Hollywood farce. With it's woozy beatnik jazz and seductive bongo beat, this hip-swiveling score gets a first ever vinyl .

Peter Philips was the most famous English composer of his time, and only Byrd, a generation older, had more compositions published. Much of Philips' life was spent on the Continent, where he wrote music of intricate, text-conscious colour.
