About this product

The last few years have been quite a whirlwind for Scottish pop duo The Cords. Sisters Eva and Grace take their cues from forebears like Dolly Mixture, Shop Assistants, Heavenly and Tiger Trap, reinvigorating the C86 sound with style and infectious enthusiasm. Since starting in 2023 they've released a cassette single and a Christmas flexi that garnered airplay and breathless press from around the International Pop Underground, and played with everyone from The Vaselines (their first show!) to Shonen Knife, BMX Bandits, The Go! Team and Camera Obscura.Recorded over the course of six days with Jonny Scott (CHVRCHES), their self-titled debut album is some of the most vital indiepop we've heard in years, bursting with boundless energy, youthful confidence, lively melodies and most importantly terrific tunes. From album opener (and first single) InchFabulistInch to the heads-down rush of InchOctober,Inch from the punk-ish thrill of InchYouInch to the instant classic InchI'm Not Sad,Inch The Cords have crafted a debut that handily transcends their influences and shows their firm grasp of all that makes great, timeless *pop*. By the time the dreamy slow-dance closer InchWhen You Said GoodbyeInch rolls around you can't help but have fallen in love with indiepop all over again, and the only thing to do is lift the needle, flip the record, and start it over.

Team Dresch - Furthermore - CASSETTES

TEAM DRESCH ARE BACK with a NEW FUCKING RECORD, 30 years after their last full-length . Sure, yeah, that's a long time between releases. BUT, aren't you dying to hear what 30 years of living, laughing, loving, and losing collagen sounds like? This album SOUNDS LIKE lungs full of grief expelling, eyes and guts wide open, yearning to be one with animals and nature, metal-flange-goth-grunge-punk-ass-rock-and-roll, loaded with inimitable vocal melodies and harmonies, Donna Dresch's soaring guitaring that grabs you by the heart, so many other rad guitar parts all orchestrally intertwining, ass-thumping bass, and drumming mastery that deserves it's own Grammys. The songs are wildly dynamic, compelling, moving, and just... BIG, in feeling and sound. Team Dresch is Donna Dresch, Jody Bleyle, Kaia Wilson, Marcéo Martinez, and Melissa York. Bleyle and Wilson share vocal duties, while Martinez and York take turns bashing the S**t out of their drum kits. Bleyle, Dresch, and Wilson all take turns with guitars and bass on this record. Well, Kaia played bass on just one song (but not on the song InchOne SongInch). The lyrics tell stories of loss and grief, transition and transience, and telling the Christian Right to F**k right off, again. They paint landscapes rich in flora and fauna. In one way or another, these songs are all LOVE songs, when you look at love as the multitude of meaning that it is. If you're already familiar with Team Dresch's now widely considered classic emo-queercore sound, this record will give you some of that, but it's going to take you on some unexpected twisted turns as well.

Knumears - Directions - CASSETTES

Knumears understand that no band exists in a vacuum. They are an embodiment of a sonic tradition, one that's been molded and shaped for decades and can only be carried by those who truly love it. Call it screa- mo, skramz, post-hardcore or whatever else-it's a sound that's somehow endured through years of changing musical tides and is now impacting a whole new generation of underground musicians. Now Knumears' debut al- bum, Directions, is equal parts love letter and cartography project, one that explores the deep history of a convoluted scene while creating an exciting blueprint for a new one. Knumears are a group of not just passionate musicians, but friends whose bonds are as important as the music they make together. Since 2021, the Knumears (bassist Dante Garcia II, drummer Frankie Lopez, and vocalist/ guitarist Matthew Cole) have been writing, touring and playing nonstop, moving from playing packed local shows with kids screaming, climbing, shouting and dancing to touring nationally and finding the same fervent reactions all across the country. But outside of the chaos of touring, the group found equal growth in their personal lives, strengthening old bonds with those back home, discovering new connections, and cultivating their own worlds. InchAll of us were kind of finding ourselves on our own and finding new relationships of all kinds,Inch Cole says, reflecting on the record's devel- opment. InchA lot of change was happening for each of us.Inch At first all of this personal upheaval was not completely conducive to writing a new album. The band was scheduled to record with legendary producer/engineer Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Loma Prieta, Touche Amore) but the band's process felt somewhat stagnant until suddenly it wasn't InchWe were all struggling very much creativity wise,Inch explains Cole InchWe'd all found outlets in other projects while trying to write
